The sun was setting, the late afternoon turned into evening and the Penitus Oculatus office was quiet. Connected to the office was the Penitus Halls. The Halls were the home of the Penitus Oculatus agents. The bedrooms was shared by two agents, four rooms shared a kitchen. There was one master bedroom that Commander Maro occupied.
The office was quiet but the Halls were not. Voices and other noises ended the silence that had surrounded Maro for hours. He was swamped with work and had unfortunately sent his assistant to Whiterun on a mission.
He walked along the corridor not saying a word. Almost every agent greeted him but they didn't receive any answer, except for an annoyed glare.
The Commander was tired and had wished for nothing more than a good meal and some sleep. But knowing how much work he had left kept him from a peaceful rest.
Rhila had been sent to deliver and sign a bunch of contracts to General Tullius, the man in charge of the guards, soldiers and officers in Whiterun. She arrived back in Solitude late. General Tullius was stressed and had complained about her effectivity - again - and she wondered 'Why do I still work with the Penitus?' She shook her head and sighed. That night she couldn't fall asleep. Her mind was too clouded with decisions that she didn't hear the soft footsteps sneaking up behind her.
