Vault Hunters [Borderlands, Zer0/Handsome Jack X OC]

Chapter 5 ~ Sweet Sanctuary

"Oh." She stared at the large, imposing crowd.

"...Bloody hell! Eva, is that you?"

"Marcus?" Eva asked, as if she was surprised to see me. Hah. "Marcus, thank god. Can you get this haiku-speaking Vault Hunter to put me down?"

"It all depends why he's picking you up in the first place." Marcus shrugged. "If it's business, I can't really stop him."

"It's been ages..." Roland inhaled through his nose.

"Way too long." Moxii agreed.

Zer0 walked towards Roland and then dropped Eva.

"What the hell?!" Eva growled. "You fucking piece of fucking-"

"I brought the goods/That fell from the sky/Where's my payment, now?" Zer0 held out his hand and Marcus pulled out a thick wad of cash, carefully counting to make sure he didn't overpay or accidentally tip the Vault Hunter. Roland pulled out his wallet, and sighed.

"A deal's a deal, Roland. Besides, she's technically Hyperion cargo. That, and she owes us a story." Marcus gestured to Eva. "She is Handsome Jack's-"

"Shut up, Marcus. Just saying that would start an uproar. Come on, Vault Hunter. I have your payment back in the HQ. Eva, follow us."

She did as she was told, and somehow found herself sitting in a seat that had the entire town council in it.

An extensive list would be; Sir Hammerlock, Moxii, Dr. Zed, Scooter, Zer0, Krieg the Psycho, Marcus, Roland, Lilith, Axton, Maya, Salvador, and Zer0.

"There's a lot of people I don't know here, and they're all looking at me. Hey, Lilith."

"Hey, Eva. Good to see you again. Glad to see the rumors aren't true."

"What rumors?"

"The rumors about you meeting a painful and untimely death at the hands of Handsome Jack." Lilith sighed. "Well, it's upsetting to know you had a part in all this."

"All what?"

"The state of Pandora."

"That was only the first 5-6 years within helping Jack. The rest are... unpleasant."

"So, what happened to you?" Moxii asked.

"I.. well, I ran away."

Moxii burst into laughter, literally wiping a tear from her eye. "No, really. What happened to you?"

"I programmed a space ship to be literally invisible to Hyperion and company and traveled the galaxy, never staying in the same spot for more than a month. Jack is still looking." Everyone in the room who knew Eva thought she was joking, but she was dead serious.

"Uh, sorry to interrupt your catchin' up, but who is this pretty lady?" Scooter seemed confused. As usual. He refused my buy one, get one free deal. As in, buy a gun, get a car free!

"Nice to meet you. I'm Handsome Jack's wife. Well, ex wife." Eva held out her hand to shake Scooter's, but his jaw had dropped and he really wasn't taking the shake. He just stared at her, and Marcus hit him on the back.

"It's not that shocking! She looks like an intergalactic supermodel!"

She had chestnut brown hair, down to her waist. She preferred to wear it down rather than up. It was naturally straight. Her eyes were a topaz orange and her lips were redder than rubies.

"I do not understand/Don't we destroy Jack's possessions?/Does she not qualify?" Zer0 mused to himself.

"Alright, let's get this out of the way first. Anyone who doesn't want to take care of her, put their hands up. Last one has to be with her at all times. 54321go!" Lilith's hand shot up, and so did others, eventually.
