Chapter 1 - Vault Hunters [New]

The smell of burning rubber filled the air as a car haphazardly swerved to the left and right, running over a few skags in the way. A woman was smoking a cigarette, her feet up on the dash while a man who looked quite bizarre by normal standards was driving. As she flicked her cigarette up in the air, it dropped onto the head of a skag trying to keep up with the vehicle. The next thing aimed at the skag was the barrel of a gun, to which a few bullets were shot from the chamber. The skag's legs were like jelly as it got a face full of dirt. 

"What did I say/About putting your feet up/It's rather rude." The man seemed to speak only in haikus, yet his movements over the steering wheel were graceful. There was a sort of theme in his actions; each predetermined, knowing. 

"If I wanted to adhere to the rules of a prison, I would go back to my ex." The woman shrugged. "I decided I wasn't gonna live like that fragile dream wife he wanted me to be a long time ago." 

"I wouldn't appreciate you/Nearly as much/If you weren't who you were." There was a slight tone to his voice, gentle, affectionate. "Take the wheel." 

"Jeez, fine. If you're gonna break your own rules, why even speak that way, Zer0?" Zer0 flipped out of the car, causing it to swerve as the woman took control. He landed on the back of a particularly bigger skag, his blade slicing through skin like a sawblade through paper. As he jumped to the next skag, striking again, the woman circled him in the car, doing semi-doughnuts.  

After he had finished off the last Skag, he ran towards the car and jumped onto the hood, flipping back into the seat, and off they went into the distance, leaving nothing but dust in their path. "Let's go get our reward/I'm itching to buy a gun." 

Now, I know you've heard of all the stories I've told you before, but this one is not my usual. Who is the woman accompanying Zer0 and why are they so close? Were they always as much of a power couple as they are today? 

I am Marcus, and this is the tale of badassery that I've been keeping in my safe for quite a while. 

It all starts with Handsome Jack's wife... and her escape from the clutches of the madman.
