"What the hell do you mean your going on a date with Ponyboy?" Dally glared at me as he sat in the couch, feet on the coffee table, cigarette dangling from his mouth.
"It's just as friends Dally. Why is it such a big deal anyway?" I crossed my arms and put all my weight on my right foot.
"Because you're 14 Mac!" He threw his arms up in the the air.
"You lost your virginity at 14!" I pointed my finger at him and put my hand on my hip.
"That's because I was a stupid kid then! You're not!"
"You act like I'm dating A soc!"
"I don't give a shit, Mac! You're too young to be dating!"
"Says the man who was having sex at 14!" I threw my hands in the air and let them hit my thighs as they fell back down to my sides.
"This is Ponyboy Curtis were talking about. It's not like we're having sex or anything! We're just friends!" I pinched the bridge of my nose and took a deep breath.
"Look Dally, you know Pony is a good kid. Everything will be fine." I look at the ground as I moved my hand like I was smoothing out the air. I heard Dally sigh and lean forward as he ran his hands down his face.
"Alright. But he makes one wrong move, I snap his neck."
"Alright, whatever. I have to go get ready. It's already 5:00 and I have to be back at his house at 6:00." I started to walk upstairs.
"Behave yourself Macline Marie." Dally scolded me.
"Yeah, yeah." I said. I walked back into my room where Ellen was starting on her hair. I shut the door and walked over to my closet.
"What are you gonna do with your hair?" I asked as I looked through my closet for a nice shirt.
"Half up, half down. And simple makeup. Nothing too fancy. Hey, can I borrow your nice blue and red flannel?" She asked and she held hair pins between her teeth and holding her hair in place.
"Uh... Yeah. Here it is." I pulled the shirt out of my closet and tree it to her. She caught it with her right hand.
"Thanks, man."
"Yep." I pulled out my really nice maroon flannel. I decided to wear this over a white tank top and my nice dark blue skinny jeans. I changed into my outfit and headed to the bathroom to grabbed some hair pins and hair ties and my makeup bag. I walked back into my room and sat down next to Ellen at my mirror. I put my long reddish brown hair into a high bun and bumped my bangs in the front. I tied my white bandana into my hair in between my bum and my bangs, spurring the knot at the top of my head. For my makeup I put a brown eyeshadow on my eyelid and a dark brown in my crease. I winged out my eyeliner a tad bit and put on mascara. Is prayed some floral smelling perfume and my wrists and neck. I put on my brown boots and was ready to head back to Ponyboy's. .
Ellen was wearing a red and blue flannel over a white tank top. She had on her dark blues skinny jeans and white converse. Her curly blonde hair was pulled back into a half ponytail. She only winged out her eyeliner a little and put on mascara. Nothing to dramatic.
"Ready?" I asked.
"Yep." She nodded and we walked downstairs.
"Mac." My brother called my name. And I turned around. "Here's some money to get in and pay for something to eat." Dally handed me a $20.
"Thanks Dal. I'll be home later."
"By midnight."
"By midnight." I repeated. And with that, Ellen and I headed out the door.
