Alphys padded carefully into her lab, her footsteps falling quietly on the tile floor. She heard soft murmurs deep within the lab, the sound echoing ever so slightly off the walls. Alphys continued to journey deeper within her lab, searching for the source. She reached a door and pushed a small button to the side, causing the door to slide up with a woosh!

On the other side was the only other living being to occupy the lab anymore besides Alphys. Bromalgamate had molded themselves into a large comfy chair that Aphys had bought specifically for them. Alphys remembered when they seemed to just light up when they first got this room specially designed for their being.

Bromalgamate had an open book in their clasped hands, seeming to attempt to read it. Both of them tried to whisper the words in their misshapen, dropping mouths. Alphys could see that they we struggling to keep the book in their permanently intertwined hands, and went over to them.

"Do you want me to turn the page?" She inquired softly, looking into their molded faces. It was hard to read their expressions, but Alphys could see in the brothers' eyes that they were greatful. Alphys reached over and straightened the book before turning the page.

Bromalgamate attempted to say "Thank you." to the short doctor, but it came out in slurred gibberish. Alphys didn't mind, though. She smiled, and sat carefully on the edge of their bed.

Alphys knew that the others pitied the brothers, but their sorrow was not needed. She could see in her friends eyes that they thought that Sans and Papyrus's altered fate was a terrible mistake, but Alphys knew better. She saw in both Sans and Papyrus's eyes that they thought the exact opposite.

Not long ago, Papyrus was attacked by them. The human who relentlessly killed each and every monster they encountered before Alphys evacuated the underground. Papyrus saw that the human was a killer, but he also thought that he could bring the good out of them.

He was wrong.

On the brink of death, Sans took his brother before the human could finish the job. The brothers traveled to Alphys's lab, where Sans searched for anything that could save his brother.

That's when Sans found the determination extract.

With determination alone, Sans saved his beloved brother, but the consequences were life-changing. The two monsters could not withstand the determination properly, and their physical beings molded together into what is now Bromalgamate.

But, despite the struggle, the brothers were beyond happy. Alphys could see that the two were ecstatic in their melted body. They took the expression inseparable to a whole new level.

But, their friends did not understand that. Toriel treated Bromalgamate like a troubled toddler, not seeing that it was still the skeleton brothers they all knew and loved deep down in the inside. Sure, their body made it difficult for them to do things like speak properly or hold things, but they were still Sans and Papyrus. Undyne would simply not know what to do with herself around them, for she probably will never get used to their somewhat disturbing form.

Bromalgamate did not seem to mind for one second though. Because they were alive, and together. That was all they ever wanted, that was all Sans was trying desperately to achieve.

And watching them right now, reading quietly to themselves, Alphys could just see the happiness bursting inside them. Just being able to enjoy the others company, and share their life with each other.

Because with determination, the brothers will be happy together even after their last, shared breath.
