I was awake but I didn't dare open my eyes. I had no idea where I was and I was too afraid to find out. The ground was cold against my back and I could hear birds chirping all around me. All of my senses were alert; checking for danger.
Curiosity got the best of me and I decided to peek through my right eye. Big mistake. Light pierced my eye and I cried out of shock. I instantly sat up and rubbed my eye to soothe the pain. As I sat up and both of my eyes looked up to take in the scenery I couldn't help but gasp.
Was this what heaven looked like? It seemed as if I was in a cherry orchard judging by the rows upon rows of trees filled with numerous amounts of cherry blossoms. The warm breeze caused their petals to be strewn across the endless carpet of lush green grass. The sweet floral scent of the orchard calmed my excited nerves and suddenly I wasn't frightened anymore.
I looked down at myself and was quite taken aback. My blue dress had a ripped sleeve and a chunk of it was ripped off near the bottom and there were multiple dark stains all over the dress. It reeked of the startling smells of alcohol, smoke, and sweat.
The scent triggered my memory and I instantly started envisioning the horrible scenes of last night; the booming music against my poor eardrums dancing bodies clumsily bumping into each other, and the feeling of warm alcohol being spilled on my body by the drunken boy sitting next to me.
A bitter sensation spread through my body and I vigorously shook my head and frowned. I refuse to remember. The scattered lost memories of last night were bitter and unwelcome. Who needed bitterness when you were in such a heavenly place? Which again brought up the question from earlier; where exactly was I?
Suddenly when I looked up from my lap, the beautiful orchard was no where in sight. The chirping was gone and there was no more warm breeze. Instead I found myself in an empty, poorly lit grey room with the only light source being the single lightbulb from the hallway. The air was cold and silent and smelt of mold making me sneeze and crinkle my nose.
The creepy change of scenery lasted for only a moment when my eyes adjusted back to the cherry orchard. That scene was completely different from the visions of last night, so what exactly was that? Had I gone insane? I decided to forget about what just happened and just venture through the orchard which was itching my curiosity every second I stayed sitting down.
