Alex was tucked away in Mr.Today's old office. He was stressing over all of his head-mage responsibilities. Currently, he was trying to create a new spell component prototype, for an upcoming Magical Warrior Training with Florence. So far, he had nothing. But, for once, he wasn't worrying too much.
Meanwhile, Sky was stressing over a bigger problem of her own. She was trying to find her talent. She had already thought of a long list, but had crossed out everything. Meghan had once told her that she had a beautiful voice, but it hurt to sing after a while, because of the necklace of thorns she had sewn in her neck not too long ago. She does enjoy talking to Lani about books and stories, but reading endless facts just aren't for her. She definitely knew she did not have Alex's artistic abilities, nor could she memorize as many lines as Samheed. She wasn't as talented in healing as Henry, nor in cooking like Crow, and she wasn't a leader like Alex either.
She sighed, looking around her room. She eyed a shirt she had laid out earlier. She didn't quite like it, but she felt a potential in it, that it could be something else. Suddenly, a genius idea came to her. She started fixing it right away.
Even though he wasn't worried too much, Alex just couldn't think of a new spell component. A net that captures the enemy? No, Lani made that a few months ago. A cloud of dust that turns the enemy into stone? Nope, Sam has been working on a similar one for weeks. "Will I ever have any bright ideas?!" Alex groaned.
He thought for another hour or so. As a result, he had piles of crossed out lists and crumpled up papers. And a growling stomach. Knowing that geniuses can't work with empty stomachs, he headed down the the lounge for a bite to eat. Now he was starting to worry.
An hour later, Sky stood back and admired her finished work. She had transformed the shirt she didn't quite like into a unique piece, that was completely her style. Feeling confident, she changed into it then headed down to the lounge, because a long fashion breakthrough leaves a person very hungry.
And if by some magic, maybe luck, or just even fate, Sky and Alex stepped out of the tubes at the exact time. They both smiled and chuckled, reading each other's minds. They each grabbed their favorite snack; sweets for Alex and fruit for Sky, and sat down at a table together.
Right away, Alex noticed Sky's masterpiece. "I like your shirt." he said, smiling.
"Thanks. I made it myself," Sky said. "And by the way, I think I finally found my talent."
Alex beamed.
Author's note:
I hope you enjoyed this! It may not have been what you were expecting, but I feel that there needs to be more character development for Sky. She finally finds her talent, which is designing/making clothes, if you didn't catch that. I'd love to hear feedback and more requests!
