"Here, we are" Carlisle said a little too happily for my liking.
Peeking out of the window of the car, all I could mouth was 'Whoa'. I expected something pretty amazing but this house was gorgeous. It was a mansion. A glass mansion that looked like it belonged in the posh sides of East Europe. It was simply breathtaking. Jeremy and I were still ogling at the house when Carlisle had stepped out and was waiting for us. Despite it being a truly beautiful home, it was unusually located in the middle of the woods. Forks was naturally a woodsy town but seeing houses located inside the forests was out of the ordinary. Was he like some kind of serial killer who massacred kids in the woods at night and was a doctor by day?
No. He wasn't. He was a good person. I could tell. Not by a sixth sense or anything like that. I could just know his desires and whether they were good or bad. This was strange. I was strange.
As we got out, Jeremy asked him how he could live in such a giant house by himself.
Carlisle laughed and said that he had a family. That made me relieved. Carlisle led us into the house. I was a bit scared. What if his family didn't like me? I was laughable. After all the weird things that had happened I still cared what a total stranger's family thought of me. I was also anxious to see what they looked like.
The house was becoming more and more beautiful as we approached. Wow! This house could only exist in peoples' dreams.
I took in one deep breath of fresh pine and wet earth to calm my nerves as Carlisle opened the front door and invited me and Jeremy in.
We immediately stepped into a brightly lit foyer with an equally bright living area on the left side. The living room was decorated with inviting mellow yellow colours with a fuzzy white carpet. I stayed planted at the door and looked into the house in wonder. Jeremy stayed right beside me. Probably as nervous to enter as I was.
"Please come in," a voice from within the house said. It was a woman. I looked in her direction. It was a woman. A very beautiful woman. She had brown-gold hair which flowed down to her shoulders. She was small and had a kind looking face. She was also ghost white and had amber eyes. My lips formed into a thin line.
"What's going on here?" that line was now becoming my catch phrase.
"All will be explained if you come in, dear." She said. I 'surveyed' her and 'saw' that she was good so I nodded to Jeremy and we entered. With my swift, fluid and quite unfamiliar movements, I entered their house.
I sat on one of their expensive looking sofas, keeping close to Jeremy. I really hoped I wasn't making anything dirty. We sat in silence as Carlisle closed the door and walked into the room with the woman.
The man smiled broadly then said, " I don't think I have formally introduced myself. How rude of me." Did he just say 'how rude of me'? "I am Doctor Carlisle Cullen and this is my wife Esme Cullen." Esme smiled a brilliant smile in recognition.
"Let me introduce my children." He gestured to the delicate looking staircase opposite the room and almost as if they appeared out of nowhere five other people were in the room sitting on various sofas and seats around the room. Jeremy gasped in shock while I drew in a sharp breath. Was that how I moved?
Carlisle and Esme took some seats beside the sofa I was on. "This is Rosalie Hales, my daughter, beside me." Esme said towards the girl besides her. At first, I thought I was looking at an angel. Cliché, but true. Rosalie was drop dead gorgeous, and stunning. Painfully stunning. She had long blonde hair that looked as if it were made of pure silk. Light curls and not a hair out of place. She had super model looks that could make every girl want to be her and every guy want to be with her. Rosalie acted as if no one had mentioned her name. She just sat there like stone, but obviously loving the attention. Snobby. Of course.
