Farkle Minkus stared at the planetarium on his ceiling as he laid on his bed. There was something that Maya had just told him. Only he couldn't ask anyone about it. She told him not to, and he wasn't going to let Riley's feelings be thrown out into the open before she wanted them to again. He already felt horrible enough for what he'd done at her New Years party, even if she had forgiven him.
But the question still stood. Did Riley really feel something toward him, or was it just something Maya had said? Or was she feeling something strong for someone else and treating it like it was nothing? Again? Farkle almost couldn't stand the thought. But he had to. He wouldn't be that person again, especially not this soon.
He wondered what she was feeling right now. If she was thinking over the same things that he was, or even if Maya had told her about the small slip. Maybe it didn't matter, and maybe it'd be better if he really did just let this go. But he couldn't, and he wouldn't. If Riley was feeling something for him, or for anyone, she should have that be known. She should be allowed to. He knows all too well how awful it feels keeping feelings locked up inside of you. It makes everything you do feel like you're caged. And the idea of Riley forcing herself not to feel anything at all for anyone hurt him more than it should. Farkle wasn't Riley, and he knew that. But he could at least try and understand.
Could he?
Farkle couldn't ask her. He couldn't ask anyone. And he wouldn't. Maybe one day she'd come to him. He was one of her closest friends, and honestly? Sometimes he felt like he knew her the best out of all of them. But maybe that was wrong. He closed his eyes and sighed to himself. Maya probably hated him for trying to bring up what she had meant, and honestly he wished that he had never noticed when she said Riley's name.
When he opened his eyes again, Pluto was still there above him. Shining in all of it's small glory. Farkle could understand why she loved it so much. Pluto always had hope, didn't it? Speaking as if Pluto could talk, that is. And Pluto's getting somewhere in it's life.
All he could imagine was Riley's radiating smile when she heard the news of Pluto once again being considered a planet. Even though they're calling it a dwarf planet, the expression on her face looked like nothing could bring her down. He was glad to be the one to tell her. He got to see the face of pure, utter glowing. Riley has a tendency to do that-- to shine without knowing it. Farkle was amazed by that. How such a comet of a person could walk among this planet, in the same way as him, without knowing that.
He now sat up, swinging his legs over the side of his bed. Maybe he should talk to her about Valentine's Day. Maybe she deserved it. Standing himself up and retying his sneakers, he looked out his window. Farkle trusted that it wouldn't snow, but it was still well cold enough to have to wear a coat. He made sure to grab two, just in case.
Opening his door and sighing to himself, he adjusted the first coat against his body, buttoning it as high as it would go. When his father asked where he was headed, he only replied with how he had to see Riley. Stuart then furrowed his eyebrows as his son's far too quick reply, before nodding and wishing him luck.
As Farkle hit the outside pavement, his pace quickened. He was running and he hardly knew why. He was doing something he seemed to be doing a lot recently-- letting himself be run almost entirely by his emotions. Maybe if he really was a robot, things would be easier for the four-- no, six of them. Besides, maybe it would be fun being a robot. But he knew that would never happen. Especially not while his heart was still beating, racing.
Farkle was definitely not a robot.
He was pushing through the crowded streets of Greenwich Village, his second coat firmly held against his chest as he tried his not to push any of those damn impatient pedestrians. New Yorkers were harsh. They were lucky that Farkle was far from violent( usually. But right now he didn't have the time to actually push people and start something ). Instead, he remained quiet, finding the quickest route through the sea of people. He just needed to get to Riley's apartment, that way he could talk to her. About something that's, apparently, incredibly important to both of them.
