CHAPTER 10

SARAH'S POV

My eyes slowly fluttered open, for me to quickly shut them from the bright sun. Wait a minute, SUN? I did a double take and opened up my eyes. I was on a comfortable bed in a room that was fairly clean. The walls were a subtle grass green, the the floor was a beautiful hard wood floor.

I heard the door creak open, and my head snapped in that direction. Ow... "Sarah, are you okay?"As I regained my vision, I saw Nate. His hair was tousled like he hadn't slept for days. He had slight bags under his eyes, and his clothes were wrinkled.

Just as I was about to reprimand him, Nate asked "Does your head hurt?" I shook my head no, and said "Whose room am I in?" Nate had a look in his eyes. I was in his room.

I don't know why he seems guilty. The last thing I remember... oh. He feels bad for telling me to leave, then I passed out. I took a deep breath and said "Do you want me to leave?"

He looked highly conflicted, but soon nodded his head yes. I felt my heart slowly break into two, when I started to stand up slowly to gather my stuff. When I was crushed. finally got out the door and he didn't tell me to come back, I ran with tears streaming silently down my cheeks. I thought I loved him, maybe I do, but for now my heart is permanently.

Once I had everything, I went to the kitchen to say goodbye to my friends. I tried not to cry. Even Grenda said bye and hugged me. I slowly made my way to the door, and reached for the lock. I took one final look in the foyer, and stepped out the door of the house I've been living in for months on end.

When I stepped outside, I know exactly where it was. I was in Indiana, not Tennessee. I started walking in a direction. It felt as if I was walking for hours on end, when in reality it had only been 5 minutes in the sweltering heat. While I was walking, I eventually saw a car. I frantically started waving my arms to gain the attention of the driver.

Just my luck, it was the man who hit me at Nates' house. I tried running, but it was too late he saw my face. He revved the engine and started chasing me with his car. I headed for the dense woods. I was running as fast as I could. I felt adrenaline in my veins, pumping for me to go faster.

As soon as I felt I lost him, I tried climbing a tree. Now don't get me wrong, I am decent at climbing trees, but not the best. When I felt as about as decent hiding height, I got on the closest branch. I heard footsteps in the woods. Crunching, and snapping the sticks and the leaves.

Eventually he left, and I slowly made my way down the tree and back towards the road. I started running a light jog in the direction I was originally going in. Soon, to my relief, I saw headlights and gained the attention of the driver.

I asked if he could bring me to the nearest motel, and he complied. On the way to the motel, I heard the song 'Still Into You' by Paramore playing on the radio.

It's not a walk in the park

To love each other

But when our fingers interlock,

Can't deny, can't deny you're worth it

'Cause after all this time I'm still into you

I should be over all the butterflies

But I'm into you (I'm into you)

And baby even on our worst nights

I'm into you (I'm into you)

I started tearing up thinking, I do love him. The man said we were here and I thanked him. I entered the motel and gave them the money Nate gave me. When I got up to my room, I called Krissy's number.

K: Hello?

S: Hey, Kris.

K: Oh Em Gee! Is that really you Sar?

S: Um... Yes?

K: WHERE ARE YOU WOMAN?!?!?

S: I'm at a motel in Indiana.

K: I'm on my way. Be there soon babe.

End of Phone Call

Reminder: Motels suck. Never go to them.

My so far 'experience' in this place is horrible. I think I saw a rat. This is so much worse than Nate's house. There I had friends, food, shelter, I was loved.

No, not again, block off all thoughts of Nate. He doesn't care for you. He told you to leave, and you did. Think happy thoughts; puppies, rainbows, nate, Kris, my family... Wait Nate?!?!?!?

I can't do this. No, come on, he is your kidnapper, he doesn't love you. I stopped pacing the petite room, and looked at my phone, thank god I still had it.

Now don't start yelling at me, I may have forgotten I had it for awhile. I didn't realize I had it until I looked through my 'bag of possessions'.

Suddenly there is a knock at my motel door, and I cautiously look through the peephole to see a very anxious Krissy. I threw open the door and she ran and hugged me talking so fast her words jumbled.

"Hey, Kris calm down. I am fine, don't worry I'm not hurt."

"I thought you were dead or bloody, and beaten," she hiccupped.

She grabbed my stuff and brought me to her car where my family was waiting anxiously. My little brother was sobbing with my dad while my mom was trying her hardest to keep a brave face.

My family is strange, with the men emotional and the females stronger. A smile broke out on my face as I walked towards them and hugged them tightly. Kris apologized for not believing me and told me they never gave up hope which I knew was true. I could tell from the hope still resignating in their teary eyes.

"I-i-i thought that I lost you. I-i thought that I lost my best friend! Don't you ever do that to me ever again Sar. We were so worried about you," my little brother sobbed into my shoulder.

"Why? Were you scared without me? You know I can take care of myself little bro. I am a big kid, unlike you," I tease.

He just huffed and went back to our mom and dad. They both told me they missed me terribly, but they weren't to overly-protective about everything. Soon we get in the car to begin the drive at this ungodly hour in the morning. Only me and my mom were up.

I was shook awake by Kris and she told me we were back home finally.
