"We have to go." Jake warned me, and giving a glance towards Melissa.

"Let's go then. I have a score to settle with your father."

"So do I." Jake replied in a mysterious tone.

We were behind the burning Sanctuary. The lake was across lots of green grass. Green grass that I somehow knew would be stained with red blood soon.

I looked at Jake, a little worried about what was going to happen.

He grinned at me, then frowned, turning his head back to the lake.

His father was standing there.

In an instant, both shifted into their wolf forms. I instantly forgot about my fight with the man, and started worrying about Jake's. Two wolves fighting? Who would win?

Jake's father lunged, grabbing Jake by the neck and pulling them both down as they passed.

I screamed.

Not that I really noticed, but Melissa backed up against the stair wall. It wasn't burning there though, so I payed little attention.

I realized that my new senses worked one hundred times better because I, well, am a wolf now.

Jake wasn't moving, but his father got up and lunged at my mate.

In that instant, I lunged changing form. When I did, I noticed two things. One, Jake had once described that there was a spirit of a wolf living with your human self. I was just me. And two, Jake's father turned his head in surprise as we clashed.

I bit his shoulder, drawing blood easily.

He growled, trying to slash at me with claws that were very sharp from what I saw from the corner of my eye, but by that point, Jake was up and joined me in taking down his father.

In one quick movement, his head snapped back and he fell, dead.

The wolf dissolved, revealing an old man covered in blood.

Jake and I both shifted back. I hugged him, my whole body trembling.

We stared at the dead, un-moving body of Jake's dad.

"It was all just a game to him, wasn't it?" I asked in disgust.

"To him, it might have been. But it was also an experiment. So as usual, he was glued to his work."

"Come, we have work to do. The Sanctuary is going to live up to it's name. It will be a safe haven for wolves and delinquents alike."

"Wolves and delinquents? Is that safe?"

"Of course it is. Especially with me as Alpha and you as Luna. Wolves don't attack humans. And many of the younger wolves aren't with good terms of the fact that they have humans as mates. So they don't search for their mate. But here, they might just find their mates if we have wolf-like humans coming in."

"I was human when I became your mate."

"And I was in love with you the moment we were in the same room."

"I love you."

"I love you, my Luna."

(Bonus)

Everyone started coming out of the woodwork. Or the burnt woodwork I should say.

The wolves gathered around me and Jake, shifted into their wolf form, and bowed. I was surprised to see that the teachers who were previously supporting Jake's dad were now bowing to the people who killed the guy.

"What's happening?" I whispered.

"I believe I am now Alpha." He turned to me, and got down on one knee. "Will you be my Luna?" He asked, pulling out a ring.

I gasped in surprise. "Yes! Yes! Absolutely yes!" I said when I got my breath back.

He smiled, placed the ring on my left hand ring finger, and picked me up. After twirling me around, I finally got to kiss my fiancé.
