I stood inside a small glass chamber, staring at the black abyss beneath me.
Mason was across from me, keeping a blank expression on his face. We were wearing the exact same thing, Black thin pants, a black tee shirt and a tight fitting waterproof jacket. We had backpacks slung around our shoulders, with an empty water canteen, a simple first aid kit, a knife and some rope.
In ten minutes we would be put into the test.
I felt nothing, just the thought of death and never being able to live my full life.
I couldn't process what was happening.
This is it... This is it... No turning back... This moment now, will decide my future.
The same monotone voice that was in the training center played inside my chamber.
"Welcome Testers. We wish you the best of luck. Once you make it out, you will be in the hospital for at least a week, to stabilize your health. We will give you one minute to say goodbye to your family."
That was a little blunt.
I glanced at Mason, but he didn't look back. Suddenly, I small screen popped up in front of me. My mom, dad and my little sister were all there, in front of my eyes. Maybe for the last time.
"Jamie, We love you" My mom cried, wiping her eyes.
"I love you too" I choked out. I held my breath so I wouldn't cry.
"You can do it!" My little sister exclaimed who waved goodbye before the screen went black and vanished into the glass.
"It will begin in" the monotone voice came back, "Three, Two, One"
I could feel myself falling, but all I could do was scream.
I landed in something very unpleasant, and I was yanked forwards very forcefully...
