Tap. Tap. Tap.
Anthony, panicked, closed his laptop and pulled on an old shirt.
He opened his curtains, and surprise, his best friend was outside the window.
Not on the ground, of course. Anthony's room was at least 15 floors up from the ground. Mei was using her old hoverboard to fly up to his room.
Anthony furrowed his brows as he let her in. "Shouldn't you be asleep?"
"Nah, I already slept way too much today. Shouldn't you be asleep?"
"I'm an S-class organism. I don't need sleep."
Mei flopped onto Anthony's bed. "Just 'cuz you don't need it doesn't mean you shouldn't. Take me, for example. Can I go a year without eating cake? Yeah, probably. Should I? No."
Anthony pouted. "Cake is bad for your health though."
"So is not getting sleep."
"I don't need to worry about my health."
Mei rolled her eyes and groaned. "Can we talk about something other than me?"
Anthony shrugged. "Why not."
Suddenly, Mei sat up in Anthony's bed. "I have an idea. Why don't you train me?"
Anthony's blue eyes widened at the suggestion. "B-but isn't Christy already teaching you that stuff?"
A devious look sprang into Mei's eyes. "Yeah, but she always talk about how good you are at swordfighting, and to me it looks like you wouldn't hurt a fly, so I want to see how good you really are."
"And none of this is really about training?"
"Of course it is, I just also want to see what everyone's always saying about you."
Anthony groaned at laid his head on his desk. "I don't feel like it..."
Mei grinned. "Why, did you not get enough sleep?"
"Alright, that's it. Let's go."
Both Anthony and Mei had decided to change for combat practice. As usual, Anthony was wearing black leggings with a pink long sleeved shirt. Mei was wearing a blue t-shirt and grey pants.
Mei grabbed her sword. "Ok, let's go."
They took the elevator to the training room. The smell of rubber and chemicals made Anthony bite his lip.
He yawned. "No, let's go outside and train."
Mei shrugged and pressed the elevator button again.
Mei unsheathed her sword. "So, are we training or what?"
Anthony grabbed his staff, which was sitting on a rack of weapons. "Sure."
"Wait, I thought you were a swordfighter."
"I was."
Mei lowered her sword. "Why did you switch to a staff? Isn't a sword a better weapon?"
Anthony spun his staff. "It serves more purposes than a sword."
"Like what?"
Anthony rolled his eyes. "You'll see."
Mei raised her sword once again. "Fine."
"Let's see how well Christy has trained you."
Mei took a fighting stance and ran towards Anthony. Before she could attack, Anthony held his staff in a way that he could shield himself if needed or attack.
Miraculously, Mei didn't attack Anthony with her sword but rather kicked his leg.
Quickly, Anthony jabbed his staff under her leg and twisted it so it carried her leg along with it.
As Mei raised her sword, Anthony used his staff to deflect her sword and push her to the ground.
Mei coughed. "Wow, Christy wasn't lying then."
Anthony grinned. "Christy's not the type to lie, though, is she?"
