It looked like any other crappy, boring day. Mom, Aunt Cheryl and I were on our way to the hospital to visit Dad. It's been a year since we received the news that he had cancer, and everything's changed since. Aunt Cheryl's phone rang, but she was sleeping, and mom was driving, so she couldn't answer.
" Ron honey, would you answer that please?" asked mom.
I wasn't in the mood for it, so I pretended that I was asleep. And if I knew at the time, that if I answered that phone, that the hospital was calling that a patient under the name John Smith had passed away this morning at 9:53, I wouldn't be here right now.
