We marched on through the thick wilderness. We had nowhere to go really, there was nothing set in place for things like this. But, at some point we would have to stop but until then we marched on. "So mind telling me exactly what the fuck is going on?" Grace had appeared by my side. "It's really none of you business." I replied without much emotion. "No, see the thing is as long as we're together and my life is on the line, it is my business." I sighed. "Before my father died before we moved to London I used to live in my grandmother's house out in the country. My grandfather had owned a farm and we stayed with her after he died to help out.
Anyways his family lived next door, we grew up together. The summer I turned sixteen he gave me a promise ring." Grace gasped audibly and I elbowed her to keep her quiet. "You were engaged?" she hissed. "No, not really, engaged to be engaged. But then my grandmother died and soon after so did my father. We ended our relationship before I left. We kept in touch through letters mostly, he ended up being drafted into the German army. Even though he lived in England he was still a German citizen. The night I died he was there, he was one of the soldiers. I did get to the shelter in time, Grace, I did. He called out to me, he had abandoned his men to come find me and my family. I heard him call out to me and I ran for him. I left the shelter and I raced for him. That's when the bomb hit."
"I don't understand how have you never told me this?"
"That's the thing I just remembered it all today. I've been remembering it all wrong. The day I died, it wasn't how I remembered it at all." Grace chewed her lip. "Do you think maybe it was like psychological? Like you blocked it?"
" I don't know, all I know is that I have a lifetime of anger and I am ready to make sure he suffers."
