(7 year old Kiri Pov)
'Heh heh hello~! My name is Kiri! And today is Mummy's birthday. I couldn't get anything for her so I decided to draw her a picture!'
I sat down at the smooth wooden coffee table in our modern living room, sitting on my knees. Drawing with my colourful crayons. Some were on the perfectly soft carpet and others spread on the table. My hands were sticky and colourful with red, blue, pink, yellow and green.
As I continued to draw I heard steps and clinging cups coming from the kitchen I turned my face towards the sound only to see Mummy holding a tray of tea and cookies, along with a cake. But silly Mummy forgot the candles. She lay it down on the other side of the coffee table and warmly smiled at me saying "Well well, how's my little artist going?" Those words made me feel happy inside... no JOYFUL! My feet bounced up from the fluffy carpet and I flew across the wooden coffee table, my arms spread out. We fell back onto the comfortable carpet, I hugged my Mum, snuggling the top of my head under hers.
We started to laugh. It was fun to joke with Mummy. My sweet voice cheered for Mum. "Mummy is 32! and she forgot the candles on the cake!~" Mum pulled me up and sat me on her lap. She had her eyes shut with a sweet smile planted on her face. "I haven't forgot dear. Its just we don't have enough money for candles. You're going to a new school and all its to much money, especially because it is a private school"
Mummy has been trying to keep me away from some people, particularly at night time. She says there are bad things at night. She had told me stories about these strange creatures who haunt the night. But today that didn't matter, I just wanted my Mummy to have a spectacular! birthday!~ Under my pillow was full of money...well more like seventeen dollars... but still!~ My feet jumped up and away from Mummy's lap. My hands clapped together and I told her my thoughts." I HAVE AN IDEA!~ HOW ABOUT I GO GET THE CANDLES WITH MY SPARE MONEY?!~"
I spun around and began to skip out the peaceful room, but as I made my way to the exit, my wrist felt a strong grip pulling me back from the hallway. I heard sobs, some of the fresh salty tears went onto my pale skin. My head turn to the direction of the sound.
I looked at my Mother. She looked so sad.... her face, it was all soaked with salty tears coming from her eyes. It made me want to cry. My greyish-blue eyes started to tear up. I mumbled to Mummy as she put my soft hand on her pale cheek. "M-Mummy-" before my words could continue Mummy pulled me to her and embraced me tightly. Her tears rolling down onto my purple strap that held my dress. My eyes began to cry, I didn't want this. I never asked for any of this to start. When Mummy finally spoke, she put her pale hand behind my head and gripped my dark black hair that I inherited from my father. "P-please...don't ever go out...especially at night!"
I totally understood why she was telling me this. But I'm a big girl, I can protect myself, I thought.... But since its her birthday, I'll let my Mummy tell me to do anything!~ My body slipped out of Mummy's embrace, my face directly landed on Mummy's face. I gave her a closed eye smile with tears rolling down my pale cheeks and tried to cheer Mummy up! "DON'T WORRY Mummy I WON'T GO OUT I PROMISE FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART!!!"
My eyes shot open to see her expression, now she had tears of happiness. She smiled at me and wiped her tears away with her sleeve. She peered from behind her risen arm and lowered it slowly, "Well lets get over that! How about we have some cake" I threw my arms up into the air and cheered "YAY! CAKE!~"

I was snuggled up in my futon bed. The fluffy covers covering my whole body, filling me with warmth but my head was hurting... no banging so hard and I hated it. Inside I felt guilty. Mummy had done so much for me. And my actions always landed me in trouble with the neighbours, she always had to go to there homes and apologise.
