Chapter Two | Oh hello.
Is this really necessary? Really? Yeah, he was cute. I can admit that. But it could've just been an awkward stare, and nothing more from it. I felt very uncomfortable as I was dragged to the table just a few feet from my comfort spot. I could only insist that this wasn't a good idea, but she wasn't going to listen to me.
How bad could it possibly be? Maybe not bad. Just really awkward.
Hayden held my hand as she charged towards the newbie. He looked over with an expression of pure confusion as she took a seat. I remained behind her, my eyes darting between her and Matt.
"Hello there, Matt." My best friend said with a smile. She glanced over, knowing that it wouldn't be easy to make me talk. "This is my friend, (Y/N), and I'm Hayden." She added. Matt raised a brow, although his expression remained unchanged.
"Hello." He finally spoke, his voice deep as well as somewhat blank. As if he were reading off a script. My best friend gave me a deadly glare, signaling me to sit next to her. No way out, might as well. So I did. Matt's eyes trailed off towards me, which made me feel a little uneasy. I stared, although I tried to limit it greatly.
It was as if time had stopped. I wasn't talking much, keeping the replies simple. Matt did the same. Hayden kept the conversation going, as usual. That is until the blonde boy finally spoke. "I have to work. Lunch is over." He spoke blankly. "It was nice talking to you two." He added, though without the smile most people would usually add. He stood, nodding as he left to go dispose of his tray. I watched him closely as he began to walk towards the exit. He had made a swift turn from the trash bin to the exit, causing something quite odd to happen.
It was his hair. That blonde head of hair had now tilted sideways, somehow? I had to look twice, unsure if I was just seeing things wrong. His hair was tilted, as if falling off. The now shorter side revealed a small chunk of much darker hair underneath. My brow raised, his eyes returning to glance in my direction one last time. He immediately noticed my expression, as well as the sudden growth on one side of his head. Suddenly, those dark eyes had widened further than I had ever seen. His pace quickened, leaving as soon as possible.
'Weird.' I thought, only now noticing my best friend trying to get my attention. "Heey, we gotta go, too. We got work to do." I nodded in response, the two of us exiting the cafeteria for another typical day of boring work.
A few hours later.
Another day over with. Finally. I was exhausted, and all I wanted was a nap. It's all that has been on my mind all day...aside from him. I felt weird, thinking about that weirdo. Something about him was so off, but I tried my best to put that aside.
Finally reaching my room, I began to type in my code to enter. But I felt a presence behind me. "Hello." I jumped, clearly unaware of him standing directly behind me. I let out a gasp, holding my chest as I turned on my heels. It was Matt. His dark eyes stared, as if straight into my soul. It was almost creepy.
"Oh. Hi." I spoke, as soon as I got my heart to slow down. I gave him a soft smile, kinda curious to what he could possibly want, and as an attempt to be kind. After a moment of silence, the tall technician finally spoke.
"Take a walk with me."
