"Brantley,he cheated on me. I caught him after school, sticking his tongue down Chelse's throat." I cried into my phone, while talking to my best friend Brantley Gilbert.

"I'm sorry Addy." Brantley said calmly, "Come over! We'll hang out, just us, none of the guys. I wanna help my best friend." He pleaded.

"I don't know Brant. I just kinda feel like being alone right now." I replied, knowing if I really was alone all I'd do is cry.

"Please Adds. I don't want you alone after what he did to you! Just come over. Please?" Brant begged.

"Fine, but none of the guys. Just us." I agreed.

"Just us. I promise."

As soon that conversation ended, I was off. I drove towards Brantley's house, as fast as my daddy's truck would take me. I arrived in record time, and was inside in a few seconds of pulling into the drive way.

"Hey Mama." I greeted Mama Becky with the realist smile I could muster. When her bright smile faltered, I knew she realized mine was fake.

"What's wrong sugar?" She asked.

"Luke. He cheated on me with the cheer caption." With that, I broke down. I cried into mama's shoulder for what felt like hours, but was truly only a few minutes.

"Brantley's up stairs in his room, Honey. Why don't you go on up there? I think he wrote a song just for you!" She tried to cheer me up.

But when I heard her say a new song, I jumped up and ran up the stairs. Brant writing a new song meant he had new inspiration. Probably some lucky girl, who he's falling for. I couldn't lie, I've had many dreams about Brantley writing a song for me, but that'll never happen. He only writes songs for the girls who he has feelings for, and even if I do have a small, okay large, amount of feelings for him it couldn't work. He's my best friend, and that's all I'll ever be.

"Brantley, where are you loser?" I yelled into the hall, not knowing which room to go into.

"The back room!" I heard him yell.

As I walked in, I saw him with no shirt on, guitar in hand, and note pad on the small table in the middle of the room.

"Hey Adds, it took you long enough." He exclaimed, shaking his head with a small laugh escaping his perfect lips. Wait, stop Addison! Best friend, and best friend only. " I wanna play you a new song later tonight, if that's alright."

" Of course it is Brantley. You know I love new songs, and who's this one about?" I questioned him.

"You'll find out later" he laughed.

"Fine." I fake huffed, rolling my eyes at him sarcastically.

Hours passed, and we sat there and talked awhile. I spilt everything that has happened the last few nights, and he just held me. After a while, I asked him to play me that song he wrote.

"Okay, I need you to know this. Addy, you mean the world to me, no matter what." Brantley explained.

"I know brant. Just play me that song!" I exclaimed excitedly.

"Okay. Here it goes" he took a shaky breath before continuing. He played a few chords, before singing.

Shes stopping by real late at night, just to talk
She said, I got some things that been weighing on my mind,
And I know I can come.
And we just sit and we talk a while
While she spills her heart on that couch of mine.
And it won't be long till the guitar starts to play.
I already know that she's gonna say,
Oh she says

Play me that song, play me that song you wrote
About the girl who might not ever know,
How much you care, or how much you love her.
Play me that song, play me that song again
Cause I like to think there's someone there
Who might love me just like that,
So play me that song again.

Wasted time on a small town guy, nothing but drama.
Trail of tears that leads right to my side
Cause I know how to hold her
She knows that I don't give a damn about the rumors spread, or what they said
I just hold her tight, until the time is right.

Then I play her that song, play her that song I wrote
About the girl who might not ever know how much I care, or how much I love her.
I play her that song, play her that song again
Cause she likes to think there's someone there,
Who might love her just like that
So I play her that song again

Oh baby I'll never get tired
I'll play it all night
From sun down to sunrise, till I'm black and blue
You make it easy to do

Baby that song, baby that song I wrote
About the girl who might not ever know,
How much I care, or how I love her
Baby that song, I gotta tell you the truth
I've been hiding all this so long from you
Can't believe you never knew
It's all about you.

I just stood there, looking at him. He likes me. He loves me, the song said he loves me. Brantley Keith Gilbert said he loves me.

"Addison, I know I should have told you this before now, but I just couldn't. But I knew I had to tonight. Addy, I love you. I know you don't feel the same, but I had to get it out."

"Brant, Brantley Keith Gilbert" I yelled, knowing I had to stop his rambling.
"I love you too, I always have. And I always will"

I remeber that like it was yesterday. It became our song. After that night, Brantley and I became a couple, and lasted for 8 months. Then I woke up one day, and he was gone. He left a post it note, a damn post it note, saying that he had to go to Nashville. He claimed he didn't know how to tell me, so he decided he'd just leave. Also said some bullshit like he'd always love me, and stuff like that. All of this not true.

My name is Addison Marie Kelly. I'm a brunette, around 5'2, and have a body of what most people call "nice", but I hate it. As you can tell, I'm not on the best of terms with Mr, Gilbert right now, but I'm going to have to suck it up. Because right now, I'm on my way back to Jefferson, Georgia, after 6 years of staying away, to come home to stay. You see, after Brantley left, I left too. I went to North Carolina for college, graduated with a masters degree is education, and came back to teach at the Jefferson Elementary School. There weren't many schools back in NC to teach at, that had spots open. So when one opened up down here, my mom was sure that I needed to come back here, and get it. She claimed I never came down here, and now was the perfect time to move back home.
So now, here I am, two hours away from Jefferson, with my windows rolled down, and my hair blowing in the wind. I will tell you this, just being close to the country side has put me in a better mood.

My phone started to buzz, I just hit the green button, knowing it was my mom calling me.

"Hey baby girl, how close are you?" My mothers voice rang through my ears.

"I'm about two hours out, I'll be there soon" I replied.

"Alright baby, I'll see you soon. Love you" she said.

"Love you too." I replied.

At Least I have something to look forward too.
