In the days that followed I learned that it was Rachel who had been apprenticed to Winnie , and that Rachel was now a midwife. Winnie was now of course looking for some one to apprentice as a doctor. I politely declined the offer.  I was quickly becoming much to busy working and preparing for our wedding and new home . Arie estimated that the cabin would be ready in three months , so we had planned the wedding for four months away , August 8th. We had at first wondered to invite but our worries were soon carried away. By attending church (which we had so long been prohibited to do) Nat and I had fast made friends and soon had plenty of guests . The day following our decision about our wedding I went to Rachel's house bringing the wedding clothes  . And there I tried them on for the first time . Rachel was a wonderful seamstress and helped me alter the dress , but the coat fit perfectly.

One day when bringing lunch to Nat he noticed my skirt falling just to my knee and remarked that the  skirt was perfectly scandalous! I was perfectly offended and left his  lunch on the bench without a word. Later that night he came to my cottage , and knocked quietly. I opened the door and peaked out and seeing Nat was tempted to close the door , but the tender look in his eyes compelled me to open it Beck? I swallowed . Yes? May I talk to you? I nodded and let him in . Before he spoke I began, Nat? he raised an eyebrow. I'm sorry I stormed away, I shouldn't have acted  that way! . He took my hand, I'm sorry to I didn't mind your skirt. I was just surprised. I relaxed . Oh was all I said in response. Then with a brighter air he said, Have you seen the cabin yet? I shook my head, No. I've been working on other things , besides I wanted to wait. He smiled , okay well goodnight! I hugged him goodbye and closed the door . The next day was Saturday , and I went to Rachel's to sew . The scraps of fabric I had was coming together into a beautiful quilt . Rachel was sewing little bits of fabric but she wasn't telling me what she was making. Little Daniel was four months , he had dark hair like Rachel , and blue eyes like Arie but that could change. Rachel was now a young beautiful , and mature woman. Several times following here recovery I went to help her with a few deliveries she was in charge of. I had attended several deliveries with mamma but the ones  with Rachel were beautiful, but for now I preferred the quite study of personal care , at least for now. It was early summer and I had a small garden outside my cottage and the little plants now had blossoms . One evening while we were eating dinner at Arie and Rachel's home  the judge came by and invited us to a welcome feast in honor of our arrival to Glendale . Nat and I modestly accepted . Then returned to our meal.

A few weeks later it was a pleasant June morning and I was kneading bread and preparing to deliver weekly supplies to Nat , it dawned on me that it was June 28th the day before Nat's 29th birthday.

I bought him a bible later after finishing my chores and totally forgot the bread rising on the stove.

Nat POV:

There was a knock on the door . I opened it to see Rebecka standing there . She was smiling . I felt embarrassed I had been working all day and I'm sure I was a mess.

I invited her in . She didn't wait a moment and flew into what she had come to say. "You remember your birthday is tomorrow?" I suddenly realized I had forgotten my birthday. She wanted to go for a picnic. I agreed it would be a pleasant break from the work.

Decide to add Nat's POV from now on !

Hope it spices it up!
