Chapter 1
Desirae Hermione Balthazar stared in the mirror. Her blue eyes and midnight black hair were reflected. She felt as if she had never belonged in this world; a phase that her little brothers, Percy Felix Balthazar and Clark Henry Balthazar would go through, as well.
“Desirae!” Astoria, her mother called.
“Yes, mom?” Desirae called.
“Breakfast!” Astoria yelled.
“Coming!” Desirae replied and carefully walked on the unbalanced stairs. She walked down in the kitchen which Astoria always kept precisely organized.
Plates with navy blue hues on the sides and silver ones in the middle were all divided in a old drawer which also looked like it didn’t belong in this world.
Almost everything in the house was blue and silver, my mother and father’s favorite colors. Even the bricks keeping the residence standing were blue.
Desirae noticed the freshly cooked eggs and broccoli with a silver fork laid out beside it.
“Breakfast!” Astoria chided.
Percy and Clark were already eating like crazy. Desirae looked at them with revulsion and sat down.
Percy and Clark both had black hair and identical noses, which were both perfect and sort of looked like pears engraved into their faces. They had blue eyes that seemed to be glowing, like Desirae’s.
“So,” Arturo, their father said. “Are you two excited to go into eighth grade?”
Clark nodded, but Percy continued to eat.
“Stop eating like a pig!” Desirae finally sputtered, and dug the fork into the table.
“Desirae!” Arturo yelled. “This table is very old!”
“Yeah, yeah, whatever,” Desirae rolled her eyes.
“Do not roll your eyes at you father, Desirae Hermione Balthazar!” Astoria yelled.
“Everyone else here does it,” Desirae said.
Astoria walked up to Desirae and put her soft hands on Desirae’s face. “And you are unlike anyone here. You are unique, and you,” Astoria said, sweetly.
Desirae started to smile when her father yelled angrily, “And we don’t want you to be a teenage idiot!”
Desirae got in the passenger seat, while Percy and Clark got in the back. Arturo drove them to school. Desirae couldn’t think of a worst place to be than Ash Hill Academy. Her brown bag slung over her shoulder she walked into the academy dreaming of a life filled with excitement.
Hannah and Addison were the cheerleaders, both had blonde hair and brown eyes. They rarely wore anything other than orange and white skirts above their legs and tank tops. Just the people that Desirae tried to avoid.
“Hey, Hannah!” Addison said.
“Hey, Addy!” Hannah’s arms sealed around Addison’s shoulders.
They started to walk to Desirae, using their cat-walk, when they shook their hips.
“Look, everybody! It’s Begirae!” Hannah laughed. They made up a stupid name for Desirae because they said she would be “begging for mercy” when they were done with her.
Desirae continued walking. “Hey, Begirae! You dropped your books!” Addison said as she banged into me and my bag fell on the floor.
Desirae bent down to pick them up. All of her stuff was unorganized and she sat on the floor all through the first period.
“Ms. Balthazar,” Desirae heard a voice. Jane McKingston stood over her. Her over bleached shock of white hair was a frightening contrast to her olive skin and her gold eyes furthered the impression that she was a frightening distant cousin of a fire breathing dragon. Ms McKingston was the gym coach and actually seemed to breathe fire after her daily burrito lunches. “Detention, young lady,” She said as she gave Desirae a pink slip. Addison and Hannah stood by the wall, laughing their heads off. Desirae’s fists clenched.
“Be quiet,” I muttered to myself. Over twenty students filled the halls. “What was that, Begirae? I couldn’t here you!” Hannah shouted as Addison laughed.
“BE QUIET!” I screamed as it started raining... inside! It was flooding quickly. All the doors were lockeddoors were locked.
“You water-demon!” Hannah screamed, as she slipped in the mess. Her head hit the floor and it started to bleed. I kneeled down to help Hannah up. I clutched her arm and pulled her up, while she tried to throw me down to the ground.
I desperately needed help. Percy and Clark would help me; they were only a few classrooms down. I saw a glimpse of Percy or Clark’s overgrown black hair.
Clark pulled me up. “Nobody messes with my sister,” Percy said, as Clark nodded. Jane McKingston held Hannah and brought her to the nurse.
“I want everyone to go home,” Jane said over the speaker. Two of the most muscular teachers banged holes in the windows of the locked doors for escape.
Clark, Percy and Desirae were the first to leave that Hell-like place. And little did they know; it was their last time there.
†
Arturo and Astoria were cleaning up the house when Arturo started to think about his brother and sister, Amethyst and Artix from the different realm, Aquatica.
The three were close until they had to compete for the throne of Sadaf in an arena. They all had Aqua-Suits that sent the bearer back to the castle when they were stabbed.
Amethyst had got Artix and Arturo had gotten Amethyst. Arturo won that day, but the three were already turning on each other.
One day the conflict got so big, that the realm was in danger and they had to banish the three to different realms.
Amethyst got banished to Zephyr, Artix got banished to Xendria and Arturo got banished to Earth.
He met Astoria fell in love and had Desirae. But he still remembered how there were no suns in Aquatica; just two moons.
How life on Aquatica was kept is alive is they have heat in the core of the earth instead of an external sun.
He slept on the couch and later Astoria joined him.
Then he was awoken by an unexpected guest... a very unexpected guest.
“I’ll get it,” Arturo said.
Arturo got up and answered the door. And it was Amethyst!
