Rose slept like the dead. She could've been one of those actresses on TV who had to play dead, her chest barely rising a millimetre with each breath, turning oddly pale when she slept. She didn't even stir when five loud pounding knocks sounded on her door at 5am, she didn't stir when the lawn mower started up at 6 either and her window was even open. She woke only when she was ready, that time as always, was 8am. Forty minutes before she had to be at school.
She laid pretending to be asleep for fifteen extra minutes before her mother's silky, velvet soft voice traveled through the intercom to wake her. "Rosette," She spoke in a sing song voice, one that would easily send a baby into a deep sleep. "Wake up, Drake is here."
Rose rose from her black canopy bed and sluggishly walked over to the intercom, placed conveniently right beside her door. She pressed her long slender finger down on the talk button and yawned then spoke, "Thank you mother, send him up."
She didn't get a reply and wasn't expecting one. She walked over to her closet and plucked out the first thing she laid eyes on. She slid into the ripped, black skinny jeans first and then pulled Drake's black and white letterman jacket over only her black lace bra. She gotten to doing up the buttons when Drake knocked on her door.
She quickly finished doing up the last two buttons and walked over to open the door. They both stood silently for a second, taking each other in. Drake was wearing simple grey jogging pants and a loose, baggy, dark blue sweatshirt with NYC printed in white on the front of it. After a few seconds Rose threw her arms around Drake's neck, pulling herself up on her tip-toes to kiss him tenderly on the cheek. "You look very handsome," She cut him off with her lips when he opened his mouth to compliment her in return.
He grinned down at her and she smiled back in return. She interlocked their hands and pulled him through her room and into her en-suite bathroom. It was a large room fitting both a jacuzzi and a bath/shower. There was also a medicine cabinet, sink, mirror, toilet, two separate towel racks and lots of counter space that was occupied by a curling iron, straightener, blow dryer, a basket of make up and two toothbrushes, one blue and one black.
Rose walked up to the counter and picked up both the toothbrushes, she opened the drawer closest to her and pulled out a tube of tooth paste and a hair elastic. She lathered the toothbrushes with toothpaste and put them under the stream of water coming from the clear, glass sink. She stuck the black toothbrush into her own mouth and the blue one into Drake's. They both began to brush their teeth and then spit and rinse.
Rose crouched down to the bottom of three drawers and slide it open, retrieving a large square brush the colour of charcoal. She turned and handed it to Drake who then began to brush her hair for her while she applied eyeliner, mascara, and eyeshadow to her eyes. The blue of her irises seemed to pop out and grab attention when she was done. Drake had finished brushing her hair much sooner and had already tied it back into a high pony tail, with all that complete in silence, Rose turned around in Drake's arms and kissed him.
They were both smiling throughout the kiss and were lost momentarily in their own little world. When they inevitably opened their eyes and regained their breath it was only for the reason of a loud pounding on Rose's door. "Rose, you do know we have school today, right?" Rose's older but shorter sister, Reagan called from behind her door.
"Come on, lovebirds!" One of her older brothers, Adam yelled from down the hall.
Both Drake and Rose sighed in unison and unwillingly left both her bathroom and room. Drake's eyes lingered longingly on the king sized bed as they passed by and Rose chuckled beside him, pulling him along by the hand.
