Knox P.O.V
Lex stirred in her seat as we drove, the features of her face crumpling and then smoothing out again. The scenery started to transition from light to deep green ferns as we made our way higher into the mountains. I did not feel the temperature drop until I saw my angel start to shiver.
"Merda" I muttered in Italian, a few choice wards coming to mind while pulling over. We were losing light fast, if we did not reach Angelo's house in by nightfall, who knows what could lurk in the dark of these woods, I have to protect my Beloved. Taking my shirt off, unfurling and stretching out my wings I decided to fly the rest of the way, by any standards travelling with me was the safest way to get where we wanted to go.
I gently scooped Lex into my arms from her seat, feeling her body move instinctively closer to mine on touch. She curled closer to my chest, burying her face in her hair.
I kissed the top of her head gently making sure not to wake her. I adjusted Lex into a comfortable position, bent my legs and took off from the peak we had parked on. I relished in the feel of the wind rushing past my body and through my hair, this is where I belonged, this is where I went when I wanted to be alone, to think.
As we travelled fast through the air gripping Lex tighter, I thought back to when I first met my beloved; I had failed to protect her, and I hate myself every day because of it. I will NEVER let anyone hurt her again. Even though she has just met me, I feel as though I have known her my whole life. I already know that I could not bear to live without this angel in my life. She is the good to my evil and my light in this ever-growing darkness.
As we were close to reaching Angelo's house Lexi started to stir, she was weak from what happened earlier and I was anxious to get answers as to why she is being targeted by so many creatures.
I landed gently in front of the cave I have come to recognise as the entrance to Angelo's safe house. As I walked through the vines covering the entrance, I saw my old friend standing in the entrance to his house awaiting my arrival, the lines on his face mirrored the tense feeling I was portraying and as I walked past him into the house, I became more wary of what he was going to say. I set Alexandria down on a nearby couch, gently caressing her cheek before walking over to Angelo.
Chapter 12 (Part Two)
Alexandria's P.O.V
I awoke, the world slowly blurring into focus as I took in my surroundings. I turned my head slightly trying to find some familiarity; I could hear hushed voices talking in a language I didn't recognise as I tried to sit up from my uncomfortable position. My hand brushed the side of the couch I was laying on, sending soft tingles up my arm. Remembering why I had fainted in the first place, I raised my hand in front of my face examining the new shape. My once faintly coloured, un-shapely birthmark had turned a black colour, almost taking a red tinge. The mark had changed into a bold triangular shape, with a circle atop the apex, where the birthmark used to be. I don't understand I thought to myself, squinting at it again and tilting my head. I did not register the talking behind me had stopped until a man walked up to me with a glass of water in his hand, offering it to me. I hesitated at first not knowing who the man was until I saw Knox behind him encouraging me to take the drink.
I took the drink from him muttering a small thank-you in return. The man sat down on a couch opposite me, looking at me for a short while before speaking. "My name is Angelo, Alexandra" I looked at him warily "Don't be afraid child, I am an old friend of Knox here," he stated as he gestured to Knox who had now moved behind me in a protective stance.
"Knox has told me about what has happened recently and the..." he paused a moment considering his words "Position that you two are in". I blushed slightly knowing what he was talking about, but regained my calm quickly trying to change the topic.
