Chapter One

My stomach is in knots.
I look at the letter addressed to me again. This isn't any letter. It's the letter that will tell me who my dominant is.
I chew my lip and open up the vanilla folder for the millionth time in three days. I tug out the packet of informative papers from its confinements.

I take another long breath as I start to read the paper.

This letter is addressed to the submissive by the name of:
Cyrus Smith.

I bend back the paper and lay my eyes on the photo. He's handsome at least.

I bend back this page as well and sit at my kitchen table. I've already sent out the forms that will more then likely be sent to...Eros.
The name feels funny on my tongue, probably due to the fact that I've only ever thought about calling the man names that consisted of Master and Sir, plus other variations since I don't know what he likes.

The door clicks open and incomes my buddy, Adrian. We've been friends for a little over four years now. We live together, in a not very big apartment on campus, but the rents not much so it's not too bad. He smacks me on my back.

"How many times are you going to read that?" he teases as he goes to get a cup of juice.

"I don't know yet, I'll tell you when I'm done" I reply sarcastically.

He leans against the counter and drinks his orange juice.

"Seriously though how can I not read this, I've waited eighteen years, to know this person." I say leaning back in my chair.

"Yeah yeah I know, but you know what's going to be even more nerve racking?" he points to me and I raise my eyebrows.
"He's going to be here any day now to whisk you away!" he partially yells.
"Then what will you do? He'll take you away from the only reason you breath!"

I tilt my head "yeah? What's that?
I say thoroughly intrigued by what he'll say.

"Me!" he yells and runs around the small table to hug me. "We won't be able to cuddle anymore, or play video games we won't be able to go out and get drunk and not remember anything the next day" he goes on and pinches my cheeks.

I laugh at his reasoning.
"You know you're going to get your letter soon and then you'll be leaving this tiny place too"

"That's true, I wonder if it'll be a guy" he purrs and sits on the table.
Adrian is bisexual, and a submissive as well, he's studying nursing in college.

"More than likely" he says since most of the male population is dominant.
While most of the female population is submissive. The submissive male portion is nearly bigger than the Dominant female portion so in short it's not very likely to get a dominant female.

Adrian continues on babbling about how his life is going to change when he gets his letter. I sit and despite him going on and on, I think about how mine is already changing. I'm dragged out of my thoughts as I hear a loud banging. I look to Adrian and whisper.

"I told you that I needed to study for my exams, no friends" I point at the social butterfly with a stern look. He rolls his green eyes and goes to answer the door. I can hear the door open and then a mumbled exchange of words.

"A-ah, Cyrus, It's for you"
I perk up, no one ever really comes to the apartment for me. Probably because I have no friends but lets save that story for another day. I walk my steps to the door. The door is cracked and Adrian is still holding the door knob skeptically.
