A Patch of Old Snow
There's a patch of old snow in a corner
That I should have guessed
Was a blow-away paper the rain
Had brought to rest.
It is speckled with grime as if
Small print overspread it,
The news of a day I've forgotten,
If I ever read it.

Chapter Three:
A Patch of Old SnowLaura leaned against the counter, looking out of the window. Her feet hurt, but refusing to yield cleaning, besides to check the weather that seeme to be brewing up a storm. Not a storm of actual weather, but trouble.
"Boss-lady?" A soft masculine voice called, snapping Laura out of her daze. Glancing behind her, to her worker that was working that night. He then motion to the radio that was playing.
Walking to the radio on the opposite side of the counter, she turned it up so the teenagers and blue man in the coffee shop can hear too. An annoyance seemed to grow around her, along with wariness. Something just didn't feel right.
"MY faithful viewers!" A loud, obnoxious, voice boomed from the radio. That made Laura flinched, something that didn't go unnoticed by anyone, but no one dared to say anything. "I, J. Jonah Jameson, is proud to say that the Registration Acts are in process of passing! Finally someone is going to force these mutated freaks, like the wall-crawling menace -YES I AM SPEAKING TO YOU SPIDER MAN!- in!"
Laura rolled her eyes, sweeping the dirt into a pile to be swept into a dustpan. "Think he's an alien not mutant." Laura stated, still sweeping.
The blue man listened carefully, as did everyone else in the coffee shop. "I don't understand, Boss, why does everyone hate mutants?" Hyper asked, from her perch on the stool by the counter.
Two preteens, Linn and her friend, look of fear from the news. The act was scary for adults, it must be harder for them being so young and affected by it too. It made Laura grippen her hands around the broom so tightly, her knuckles turned white.
Jameson was still on the radio ranting about Spider-man, which made Hyper pout. Laura knows that Hyper idolize the Arachnid Teenage Hero, in training. Reaching over the counter, stretching his arm as far as it could go, Kurt turned off the radio.
"They can't do that... can they?" Linn asked, fear in her voice and body was slightly stiffen.Laura sighed, thinking about it. "It should not. It fringes on our freedoms." Laura stated, sweeping the pile of dirt into a dustpan. "Though, I don't think Senator Kelly really cares about that." Laura mumbled, making all of them frowned at Laura.
Then a very-very loud noise went off, making Laura jumped, startled. Hyper reached in her pocket, snapping her phone opened. "Hello?" She answered it, listening to the other end. Mouthing to everyone. "Sorry." Before jumping up and grabbing a bag full with her things. "I'll be home shortly. I just got off of work."
"Hyper!" Gabe grabbed a muffin and threw it to the girl. The hyperactive girl caught it easily."Thanks, Gaby, see you guys later! Miss Frosty, remember, I can't come in tomorrow. I am being forced to that Church thing." That made everyone make a face besides the blue man, who has no idea what the hyperactive girl was talking about.
Going back to cleaning, Laura tried to distract herself, and the two preteens who she put to work. They were organizing her bookshelves. Some of the books gotten out of order, they were in order by author and now mixed up some.
