My eyes fluttered open as I awoke in my bed. I rubbed my eyes and yawned as I twisted my body to look at the clock. I think my heart almost stopped, it was 10 a.m. I immediately sat upright in bed and scanned the room for Kate. She wasn't there, so she must've went to class already. Since I had absolutely no time to shower, I just got dressed as quickly as possible, throwing on a messy outfit.

Great start, Tay, I though to myself. I grabbed my bag and headed to the door, which was opened before I reached it. Kate was there holding shopping bags. I shrieked and jumped back.

"Damn it Kate you scared me!" I yelled. Kate just looked at me and smirked.

"Good morning, sunshine!" She sang enthusiastically as I groaned and let her in. I look at the bags she was carrying.

"Kate where did you go? Don't you have class today?" Kate raised an eyebrow and took out a small plastic mask. It had no facial marks, and was instead completely blank. I felt a little creeped out by this.

"Did you forget that it's Halloween in a few days? I'm not forgetting the amazing birthday I'm throwing you either." She asked as she took out more items from the bags. I crinkled my nose.

"Oh yeah... " I never really like celebrating my birthday. It was on October 31, and I'd always get cliche Halloween candy or cheap toys or something.

Wait what am I doing here? I have to go to class!" I started for the door and turned to Kate before I left.

" Be back...whenever." I said. Kate just smiled.

"Idiot. Classes were cancelled today."  I looked at her and dropped my bag.

"Wait, what?" I asked. Kate looked up from the bottles of fake blood she was holding.

"Yeah, there was an announcement sent out to everyone that said classes are cancelled for today due to a board meeting." I walked over to my bed and lied back down, facing the wall.

"Oh thank god. I thought I would be in so much trouble for being late," I groaned. I rolled back to face Kate, who was still fidgeting with the blood.

"Hey." I said. Without looking up from her toys, she replied

"Hm?" I sighed and sat up.

"Kate, please don't-"

"Throw me a huge party." Kate finished. She looked up at me and smiled.

You don't always have to tell me Tay, I know you don't like parties. Trust me, okay?"  I gave a half-smile.

"Alright."  I eyed the props that were lying on the table.

"So, are we gonna frolic around with fake blood and fake knives scaring people? Because that sounds like fun." I asked. Kate giggled quietly.

"That wasn't quite what i had in mind, but we could do that if you want." I already had it planned out in my head.

"Okay, so we can dress up as ghosts. We can cut up so white dresses and cover our skin and clothes in dirt. We need to have realistic makeup on too. Our hair has to be messy, as if we haven't washed it or combed it for days. One of us should have fake blood coming from our eyes, the other from the mouth. We can hold hands and look like creepy twins who died in some freak accident."

Feeling the excitement run through me, I looked up at Kate who although had a blank face, had the same juvenile excitement twinkle in her eyes.

"I think we may be kicked off campus for this one, Tay." She smirked a little.

"But it sounds like fun." I got up from my bed and stretched.

"Well, I'm going to go take a walk outside." Kate just nodded her head. I sighed and grabbed my phone.
