In the world of academics, physics is seen as the big bad beast every student fears. This makes sense. Out side of the scientific world, "physics" is stereotyped with the term nerd, or geek. Normally it is hard for some of my students to grasp physics. I was shocked when I first taught physics, because no one understood it. When I took my first class in physics, it came so easy to me. My understanding of the properties of the universe came so naturally. Why was it so different for me?
1.) I am left handed. Why does that make difference you might ask? Left handed people use a different way of thought process. In stead of just thinking as if reading words on a page. Left handed people think with pictures. Sounds crazy, I know, but it's true. I usually don't need pictures to learn about something, but most right handed people do. I read something, and I put together a picture in my head. A right handed person reads something, and thinks about it, but a left handed person will think it. This is why most physics books are illustrated.
Any way, this is why physics came so easily to me. I could think on X, Y, and Z axis. This was my inspiration to become a phycist, but of course, as an ameture teacher. I get careless thinking everybody is thinking like how I think, but most of my students need me to draw a picture for them.
