"The light side of the moon, and the dark side of the moon. They had fallen in love with one another. The God of the light side, had fallen for the Goddess of the dark side. Two sides to the same thing, they were one but never truly together. As it turned out, the God sent the Goddess a gift. One created in the image he saw her, feminine, beautiful, confident, sly, curious, and agile. It was a pure white cat, one he had created himself. The Goddess in return sent the God a wolf. The wolf was created in the same sense as the cat, it's color completely opposite the cat though. The wolf was black, its attributes those that the Goddess had fallen for in the God. Strong, determined, protective, in short." The elder looked to the wolf sitting next to her, knowing he was not one for this story, even if the children needed to hear it. Taking a breath the woman continued, " The cat and the wolf would always meet at the edge of the light and edge of darkness, same as their creators, the God and Goddess. As the love between the God and Goddess grew, the cat and wolf started to fall for one another as well. Eventually the God and Goddess gave their 'pets' a human form, allowing the love between the cat and the wolf to grow. As the two 'pets' continued to grow closer, The God and Goddess realized that the cat and the wolf, however, could not stay upon the moon. So the God and Goddess sent them to earth, to live, to grow. As it turns out they did live and grow, they grew their own family, some being wolves, some being cats, all able to shift to their animal forms. In sake of their God and Goddess they took the name as the Moon Clan. That my little ones is how our Clan came to be." The old woman spoke to the children sitting in front of her, a soft smile upon her lips. The elder beside her spoke up, addressing the children. "That may be how our Clan came to be, but as you little ones know, there are two sides to our Clan. The Wolves, and the Cats. Much as our beloved Moon, there are two sides to the same thing. By the end of the night, you will be on your respective side of the Clan. Either a MoonFang, or a MoonClaw." The old man looked to the cat beside him, as much as he did not want to state this next part he had no choice but to do so. Looking back to the children he let out a sorrowful sigh, continuing on with the tale his should be mate had started. "As Moon Clan grew, the wolves and cats started sticking more and more to their own, not mingling with the other side. Eventually, rules were set in place, where the wolves and cats could not mate, they could not have anything to do with one another aside from being part of the same Clan. This was long after the original Wolf and Cat had passed on back to the Moon themselves." He paused, hating this next part the most. "My dear little ones, you may be friends, and stay friends, however that is all. No wolf and cat may be together as anything more than friends. If your mate happens to be from the side of the clan that is not your own, you will not have a family of your own. As we all know, there can be no mating except with the one chosen as your mate by the Moon." The looks upon the children's faces was sheer confusion. However they were starting to realize as they looked upon the two elders in front of them. These elders never touched another being, they never touched one another either. They simply stayed on their animal forms respective side of the territory, even now, while telling the children the tale of their clans origin. These elders were mates, but on different sides, and they were not allowed to be together as what should have been one clan had ended up as two. Two completely different and opposite clans, that now despised one another. How it had happened, no one knew the tale, or rather they refused to acknowledge it.

However things were going to change soon. The God and Goddess of the Moon, they wanted their creations back together, as one, as it should have stayed. They never wanted the Wolves and Cats to grow distant from one another, they never wanted their Pets to be as they were, forced apart. So as it had been stated, the Moon had chosen a wolf and a cat to be together. Again.
