The Wolfs Cat

Chapter 3

As the moon seemed to glow brighter, a strange feeling washed over the clan territory. A solid white cat and a solid black wolf, with no scent but moonlight, stepped into the territory. Those on patrols, seeing them, only to freeze as they felt the energy from the two, allowing them to pass without hesitation or trying to stop them.

The Matriarch and the Alpha were sitting near the center of the territory, talking. They had been talking about the newly shifted kids. Only just starting on the subject of Selene, and Xavier when they were interrupted by the presence of the Wolf and Cat that were not part of the clan.

An audible growl came from the Alpha as he stood, "Who are you and what are you doing here?" The Matriarch on the other hand, stayed calm, noticing the scents of the two. Her hand reaching out to the Alpha, resting on his own. "Sit down, show them some respect." The Alpha looked at her like she was crazy but he watched as she simply took a deep breath and then he followed suit, finally catching the scent of pure moonlight. He looked back to the Cat and Wolf, his head lowering out of respect.

As legend told, the original Wolf and Cat could be seen from time to time, stalking the grounds of the territory. However, they were not ghosts, no, they were solid beings, come down to watch their children. The God and Goddess of the Moon. This had not happened in nearly five changes of the heads of the clan.

The Alpha had sat down by now, next to the Matriarch, waiting for the sitting Wolf and Cat to speak. He sat waiting for what seemed to be hours. Only to see the Cat look at the Wolf on her right. The Wolf doing the same, looking at the Cat on his left, before the two of them looked back to the leaders.

"Change the Clan back to one." The two beings spoke at the same time, sounding as one, with two different tones. They stopped to let the leaders speak.

The Matriarch seemed appalled by the request the Moon was making. She simply scoffed, and shook her head. "We have grown stronger by the Clan being two." She had paused only to have the Alpha take the rest of her statement. "Why would we go back to how things were when we have prospered with things the way they are now?" He asked the Moon, much like all the leaders before him did, after the clan had become MoonClaw and MoonFang.

The Wolf and the Cat simply shook their heads before speaking again. "You either change it back or we shall do it ourselves." They again went quiet, this time to let their words sink in.

"We cannot." The Alpha and Matriarch spoke at the same time. Not even taking the words of their creators into consideration.

"Then our chosen ones shall change things by the end of the year." With that said, the Cat and Wolf stood, walking past the stunned leaders, in the direction of the clan house. Once there, the Cat and Wolf changed forms, seeming be the same person just in different genders, their colors now switched. The man having white hair, and eyes, and the woman having black hair and eyes. They looked at one another, then to the door in front of them. Again speaking as one.

"May the two within each others grasp, inside the moon drenched room, be forever bonded. Together with their souls as one, able to over come any thing that may try to part them."

That being said, the two beings disappeared as the moon glow changed from white to blue.

Having an off feeling, Xavier had pulled Selene closer to him. Nuzzling his face into her hair, feeling her snuggle into him closer. He was partially awake by now, his eyes open to see the blue glow. As much as he didn't want too, he nudged Selene awake for her to see.

"What?" She asked, sleepily, rubbing her eyes.

"The moon, it's blue." Was his only reply, as with those words Selene was wide awake.

Looking at Xavier excitedly, she jumped out of the bed. "Come on! We have to go outside." She said quickly as she pulled on a pair of cloth shorts, throwing her door open and racing down the hall.

By now Xavier had gotten out of bed, and shifted already. He knew where they were headed, and knew with how stubborn his best friend was, that she would not shift until they were there. Racing down the hall, he ducked underneath Selene, tossing her onto his back. They had done this before, in her human form she was barely five feet tall, and only about a hundred pounds. She was small, and his size shifted was plenty big enough to carry her.

'Why did you do that?'

'Because, I know you will get annoyed if we do not make it there quickly.'

'I would not.' She told him in the link.

'You would so, now hold on.' The smirk in his voice was obvious as he made it out the front door of the clan house and took off towards the moon pool on the far edge of the territory.

She held on tightly to a bit of his fur in both of her hands. Giggling softly as he picked up speed. As they came to the cliff where the spring fed pool of water sat over flowing to create a water fall off the cliff, Selene jumped off his back. Shifting, before she even landed from the five foot jump. She shook out her fur and nudge herself against his side before she ran into the pool. Xavier joining her after watching her with a smile.

'So why did we come here this time?' He asked her as he padded into the water.

'The moon, the color of it. My instincts say this is where we are supposed to be right now.'

Xavier nodded to her, his red eyes locked into her blue ones. 'Mine do as well.'

They were right, they were meant to be at the moon pool presently, but not for any reason other than their safety. The leaders had woken the entire clan by now, a new rule between the two parts of the clan being told to everyone.
