Talia's POV

I was standing in the middle of a barren wasteland full of dull gray dirt and inky pools of water, and I'm asking myself over and over the same question I've been asking for what seemed like forever-

What's going on?

Why am I here?

Why did I befriend an angel and a demon, who supposedly hate each other's kind?

Why do I feel like I'm in the middle of the two and their war?

Why am I asking my brain all these questions knowing they won't be answered???

My head started pounding. All these questions weren't good for my health. Neither was the lack of water here. Seriously, what am I supposed to do with black water? Dye my hair? My clothes?

I walked to the nearest pool of black liquid and examined it. It was as black as oil, and looked thicker than tar, but it was water. It had no smell to it, and probably no taste, but I wasn't about to find out.

I knelled down to the water and stared at my blackish reflection. My hair had fallen around my face, making it seem that my face was darker than it should be. I had small bags under my eyes from lack of sleep, due to the fact there's no sun or moon here. Just a blood red sky, constantly burning above me.

Red and black... Reminds me of Jaen...

He should have never crossed my mind, because in that moment, the demon boy emerged from the black pool of water in front of me, scaring whatever senses I had out of me. I fell backwards and screamed out of reflex. Jaen just stared at me as he stood in the water.

"W-what the hell, Jaen?! You scared me!"

"It's 'in' hell, and yes girly, that's part of the job of a demon."

He still stood in the water, almost unphased that there were little beads of black were rolling down him, as if his skin had a layer of water repellent on it. His red eyes were locked with mine, and it sent chills down my spine. It took me a moment to realize that Jaen had no shirt on, nor pants...

I broke the eye contact with him and looked away, feeling my face heat up and turn red. I heard a chuckle come from the demon as I cursed under my breath. He was very handsome, dare I say hot, and he had an alluring charm to him, almost like a spell. It was hard for me to look away, as he exited the water onto dry land.

He was wearing black boxers, and nothing more. Behind him, his black leathery tail swished about in agitation, as if waiting to strike something. I gazed up at him, and him down at me, with a smirk upon his scarred face. It reached from his lower jaw to the bridge of his nose.

"Wow girly, you're staring pretty hard there. Like what you see?"

"As if... You are simply standing in front of me, so I have no where else to look. Where the heck are your clothes, any how?"

"Eh, at the bottom of the lake, being washed. They reeked of human and angel, and I didn't want those scents on me."

"Right... I guess that's why your clothes are always black."

"At least you have some type of brain, girly."

I growled as he smirked at me again. This guy really was a pain in the ass...

"So, how long before your clothes are clean? I'm kinda tired of seeing you without them..."

"You love the sight of this bod, admit it. But the clothes... they'll take a while."
