Jeff was a quiet boy. He didn't have many friends or talked to a lot of people. He preferred to be alone. He figured it was because of his lack of trust in people or how he could so easily see the dark inner corners of people's minds. He liked to watch the fools around him.
His brother, Cody, surprisingly was nice and outgoing, he was also the only one who really knew Jeff. They grew up with their abusive father and their mother until one night when Jeff was seven their father beat their mother to death. After that Jeff went through a phase were he didn't speak for months. Even though Cody is actually the younger brother he had to step it up to keep their dad from noticing Jeff's missing voice.
Jeff and Cody manage to live with their dad and only have to fear for the nights they come home and he's drunk. But their father doesn't just hit them like he did their mother, he prefers leaving small burns on them, or making them pick up broken glass with their bare hands.
Luckily for Jeff he has a job to escape to after school. But Jeff has a hard time processing emotions and understanding himself even though he can seem to see through everyone else.
Except for one person he has not found the evil side to. He's watched this girl since the 4th grade trying to understand her, but she only shows happiness and kindness on the outside. It makes him angry to see her lack of flaws, also because he has a hard time understanding that he likes her but he does know he would like to have her and talk to her.
Jeff sat in the cafeteria of his highschool eating a sandwich when she walked in, her long black hair, her perfect figure, and his favorite part her bright red lips.
Just then her friend caught his stare, "dammit Jane that freak is starring at you again," her friend, Carla, said.
Jane looked over at Jeff and waved, "don't be rude," she frowned at Carla then continued to her table.
Jeff hated Carla, she was the worst out of all of Jane's friends. He'd seen her many times sneaking around and having sex with football players and she had a stuck up bitch face, like everyone was below her except the people she thought were cool enough.
He ignored her hateful comment and looked over to his brother sitting with his friends, they weren't the coolest guys but they were still decently popular. Cody tried many times to get Jeff to sit with them but he didn't like how many political debates they'd get into daily. So he sat eating his sandwich alone until the bell rang to go to class.
His fifth period class was astronomy, which he hated. Everyone in the class fucked around on their phones instead of listening to the teacher, and even though he did all the work his teacher hated him.
Sixth was art, were he drew mostly detailed gore drawings that kept everyone from sitting with him. Then seventh was English and eighth was an engineering class.
Once school ended he immediately headed off to his job at a Chinese restaurant, he washed dishes but it was better than being home with his dad. And lucky for him that day when he got home his dad was passed out so he could quickly do his chores and go to sleep without being bothered.
