Today was the day things changed, Jeff got up expecting it to be like every other day, but for some reason he was..happy today. He thought for some reason today might be good. He put on his favorite white hoodie after getting ready and began walking to school with his brother.
"I'm sick of taking fucking tests," Cody said. "These last three weeks have been nothing but tests."
"You still need to take the state test to pass the course, they need to prepare you." Jeff said.
"It's still so annoying. And Monica won't leave me alone, I've told her I don't like her but she keeps passing me notes like we're in middle school," Cody complained.
"Tell her to fuck off," Jeff said.
"That'd be mean, I don't wanna be mean, but she asked me to homecoming like twenty times."
"If you won't be mean about it then stop complaining cause that won't fix shit," Jeff said, hoping his brother would stop complaining.
"You just don't understand love my friend, you need a girl," Cody said.
"No," Jeff hissed, he didn't need anyone, he loved his brother but he didn't need him.
"What about that Jane girl you're always starring at," Cody laughed.
Jeff hit him upside the head, "don't talk about her," he sounded mad.
"Damn what's your problem today, try smiling for once and talking to her, you're a senior you might never see her again after you graduate," Cody said rubbing his head.
"Why would I talk to her? So we can date have a few kids and I'll kill her?" Jeff snapped.
"You're not dad..." Cody said, sounding really upset like Jeff really hit a soft spot.
"I know but still, its best I avoid the possibility," Jeff said as they got to school.
"Just try it brother," Cody hugged Jeff then walked off to class.
First period was guitar where Jeff actually enjoyed himself and was better than almost everyone. In second period Jeff had Spanish class and he had to write a whole essay in spanish cause his teacher was in a bad mood. Then in third he had government and economics. He was reading the text book and answering the questions when he looked over at Jane, sitting two desks away. He remembered what his brother told him but he shoved the thought out of his mind.
When he thought he was for sure not going to talk to her, Ryan came up and sat next to him, in between him and Jane.
"Ey Janie," Ryan said. He was a tall football player with blonde hair and the IQ of a rock.
"Morning Ryan," Jane said, nice as always.
"What chu doing later?" Ryan asked, "I was thinking you could come cheer for me at the football game tonight, then after we could celebrate my win," he said with a wink.
Jane sighed, "no Ryan, I don't want to go out with you please stop asking me you're not my type remember?" She said, sounding annoyed but still polite.
"Jane, no one says no to me more than once, so just say yes," Ryan smirked and grabbed Jane's hand.
She jerked away from him quickly, "don't touch me, and I'm saying no to you more than once, every time you ask I will say no, you're not my type and you never will be so please leave me alone," she said and continued her work.
"Come on, you don't have to play hard to get," he said.
"I'm not playing hard to get I am hard to get and you don't meet my requirements," she said.
Jeff couldn't help but laugh at Jane's comment and the stupid look on Ryan's face.
This caused Ryan to look over at him angrily. "Fuck off, mind you own business you freak," he said pissed then turned back to Jane.
"Damn," Jeff laughed. "You've got to be fucking stupid. She doesn't want your tiny dick."
This caused Ryan to stand up, "what the fuck did you just say to me?"
"I said she doesn't like you and your dick is as small as your brain," Jeff said leaning back in his chair.
"You son of a bitch, you don't even have friends but you're offending me? I've gotten more girls than you'll ever dream of." Ryan said, then paused and looked at Jane, then back at Jeff, "oh I get it, you like her don't you? You're always starring at her like a fucking stalker."
"Ryan that's enough leave him alone," Jane said pulling Ryan's arm back.
"No one would even like you emo bitch ass," Ryan said.
"That's cool I don't want the whores you get, I'd prefer to not die of aids," Jeff said.
"Asshole you just called jane a whore," Ryan said leaning over the desk he was sitting at.
"No cause you'll never get Jane cause you're not good enough," Jeff said.
"What you think you are? You'd never get a girl like her!" Ryan said.
"Hey Jeff," Jane said.
"Yea?"
"What are you doing tonight?" Jane asked.
Jeff shrugged, "I'll probably go to work again."
"How about instead we go to the arcade? They have great pizza," Jane smiled.
Jeff was surprised, he'd never been asked to hang out with someone before... But his brothers voice rang in his head. "Sure."
"Great its a date," Jane said.
"Shit you know what Jane if you'll go out with a loser like him I don't even want you, I'm out of this bullshit," Ryan said and went back to his desk.
Jane then moved to the seat next to Jeff. "Thanks for defending me, he's so annoying, he thinks he can sleep with my friends and get me too, its disgusting," Jane smiled.
"If you don't actually want to get pizza its cool with me," Jeff said not really looking at her.
"You like me right?" Jane asked.
Jeff just looked at her, unsure what to say.
"I see you looking at me all the time, I just wonder why you never try to talk to me, am I scary?" Jane joked.
"No it's not that," Jeff said.
"I don't think you're a freak," she said.
He couldn't help but just look at her, words wouldn't come out of his mouth.
She smiled with her bright red lips, "meet me in the student parking lot after school, and you better show or I'll cry!" She said.
"I'll be there..." Jeff said. Luckily Jeff didn't need to be at work that night, the nights he had off he'd go and help out anyways, without pay so his boss wouldn't get mad. He was excited but also scared about the day ending...
