Beep, beep, beep...

What the...

Beep, beep, beep...

I opened my eyes to see a bright light in my face. I hissed and sightly swore as I smashed my stupid alarm clock off.

Who the hell opened my blinds?

I got up to close my blinds when I stepped on one of my dogs stupid chewed up bones. That shit hurts!

"Ouch..." I hissed as I dramatically limped to my window.

I closed my blinds and turned on my lamp I have on my desk. I then got dressed in some jeans and a tank-top covered with my favorite red flannel.

I ate some cereal... Which I really only eat on school days because if I eat it any other time I'm just reminded of school. Yuck!

I grabbed my binder and laptop and stuffed it in my bag, which was so small that my fat ass dachshund couldn't fit in it. My mom came in, knocking first of course, and handed me my lunch.

"Thanks mom." I said to her. She said, "you're welcome babe. You ready for your French test today?" I nodded, "oui!" She laughed and went to finish making my brothers lunch. She's a busy woman... Being a single mother and all.
My dad died a couple of years ago in a car accident.

Don't drink and drive people.

Oh no, my dad didn't do that... the dumbass that hit him did that.

I don't drive a car yet, I'm only fifteen. Almost sixteen! I'm in my sophomore year with all my best friends, who can drive but I'm still stuck riding the stupid bus.

It is currently September with fall colors all around. Not that I mind because my birthday is next month. I just hate the cold morning.

I looked at the time on my phone and saw it was 7:18, the time I leave for the bus. My bus comes around 7:23, 7:25 if she's late. The bus stop is right down my street so about the time I get there, my best friend is already there, we talk a little, then we hear the wheels of the bus turn around the corner.

My best friend, Holly, lives a block away from me. Crazy, huh?  We've been best friends since fourth grade, during Halloween. Ironic. We were young at the time so we don't know the actual date that we met, but honestly... Who keeps track of that

I grab my backpack and hug my mom and brother pat my two dogs on the head and head out the door with a loud "I LOVE YOU!"

It was a bit chilly in the morning but it warmed up a bit in the afternoon. I already said that but it's true.

I get to the stop and see Holly already there.

"Hello!" I said and dropped my backpack On the sidewalk. That shit is heavy!

"Hey!" Said Holly, "it's a little cold." She did a little dance to prove it.

"It is actually. Why is it so cold in September?" I asked a little cold now.

Holly didn't answer she just hopped around and slightly hummed. Why, I don't know.

The buses loud engine and brakes sounded as it whipped around the corner of the street. Did I forget to mention our bus driver is.... Well.... An awful driver? No? Well she is. Hitting tree branches and curbs. Yikes!

She pulled up and stopped to let us on. I always get on first and Holly follows. The bus driver and I exchanged "good mornings" then I walked down the bus aisle. Passing people I either don't know, don't like, or just don't care
about enough to even look at.

Hey, I'm a teenager. I'm going to be rude! We all are at some points.

We sat down and pulled out my headphones. We always listen to music on the bus. Always.

When I was scrolling through my songs Holly tapped me on the shoulder. I pulled out an earbud out and looked at her confused, we rarely talk on the bus because the bus is our music time!

She looked at me and whispered, "don't you think something is wrong?" I looked at her confused, "what do you mean?"

She looked around and went to Notes on her phone. As she typed she kept looking around, like she was nervous or something.

She finished typing and showed me her phone...

Look around. The kids in the other seats they're drooling... and now of them look good

She also added one of those emojis that looks like it's about to puke. And I'll admit the smell was more vile than usual.

I looked around and saw that she was right. There was a kid behind us that looked greener than a new leaf in the spring, a girl in front of us looked like she just got out of bed (and she always looks super nice in the mornings), then one of our friends was across from us drooling. He never drools! I mean... No one really drools but shut up! You know what I'm saying. Creepy!

I looked back at Holly and put my shirt over my mouth and nose, "Flu season maybe?"

"Maybe..." Holly answered "maybe we shouldn't have come to school today."

I shrugged and she did the same. We put our earbuds back into our ears and enjoyed the music.

Little did I know.....

That my favorite song was about to come on!
