22. Mom

DELILAH

The Pack came over shortly after my phone call with Nick. When they walked through the doors of Noah’s home, everyone visibly tensed. Two enemy Pack’s in the same territory did not settle well with anyone.

Matt and I sat in the living room, I was leaning into his side and his arm was wrapped around me. I couldn’t believe he was leaving tomorrow. I couldn’t wait to watch his games though.

I was always a big hockey buff. I knew everything you could possibly know about hockey, and finding out that Matt plays for my favourite team? It was even better. I’ve never been to a Leaf game, but I always wanted to.

My mother walked down the stairs and gasped. Her eyes were wide as she looked at Eric, and his were just as wide. “E-Eric?”

He nodded, his eyes wide.

“How do you two know each other?” I asked, looking between the two.

“We…um,” he rubbed the back of his neck, suddenly embarrassed.

My mother smiled at me. “We used to date in high school.”

I winked at Eric. “Yeah, ‘date.’”

His cheeks turned a brighter red and my mother just laughed.

“We’re off topic!” Nick glared at Noah. “Why have you lied?”

“Why did she lie?” Noah tilted his chin at me. “Obviously Delilah wasn’t pregnant in the first place, was she? If she was, I’m sure both of you would still be together because of your pup, correct?”

Everyone was silent.

“Exactly my point.” Noah looked over at me. “Hon, I’m not stupid and you can’t act. I knew you were pregnant the first time you were here.”

“Why are you being such an ass all of a sudden?” I growled at him.

“I’m rude towards your Pack.” Noah said softly, surprising myself and the Pack. “Not to you or Matt. And this is about Pack business.” He turned back to Nick. “I still need my heir, Nicholas.”

“Are you expecting me to give it to you?” Nick crossed his arms. “Because I’m kind of missing the parts.”

I hid my laughter in Matt’s shoulder. The rest of the Pack didn’t even attempt to cover theirs up—snickers were heard all over the room.

“Shut up!” Noah snarled. “I’m serious, Nicholas.”

Jared swallowed. “Well, you have Piper…”

My head whipped over to Jared and I curled my upper lip at him. How dare he suggest Noah make my mother have his heir. “No.”

Emily shoved forward through the boys and stepped in front of Noah. “I’ll do it.” Emily’s eyes met mine briefly. “I’ll have your heir.”

I stood up. “Emily, you don’t—”

She shook her head, her blonde hair bouncing. “I do. If he wants his heir, I’ll do it. I just want him to leave us alone.”

Noah grinned, showing his perfect white teeth. “Excellent.”

I glanced over at Eric. His fists and teeth were clenched, even though he knew that this was the plan. I suppose it’s good he’s acting like this though—it adds more effect to it.

“Everyone may leave.” Noah wrapped an arm around Emily’s waist. Eric growled and stepped towards Noah. Kyle put his arm over Eric’s chest and held him back. No one moved to leave.
