Emma liked her Aunt Irene.She was always great fun and she gave great presents.
One day when Emma came home from school there was a blue bike in the garden.
It's a present for you Said Mammy.Aunt Irene sent it .
Emma jumped on the bike and off she went.
At first she cycled slowly up and down the street.
Then she want into the park and she cycled around the lake.
This is fun Said Emma,and she began to pedal much faster.
Then she went faster still.
Suddenly the bike took off and it flew up over the lake.
Emma was terrified.
Help! Help! She screamed, but there was no one around.
She stopped peddling and the bike began to go more slowly.
Then to Emma's surprise it began to drop down.
Soon it had landed beside the lake .
Emma always cycled very slowly after that.
One day Emma was cycling in the park again.
She heard a cry for help.She stopped and looked around.
The Emma heard the cry again Help! Help!
It was. Coming from the island on the lake.
Emma looked and there on the island was a boy from her school.
There was a boat in the water nearby.
At first Emma didn't know what to do but then she had an idea
Emma began to pedal fast and then faster still.
Soon the bike was flying high over the lake.
When it was over the island,Emma pedalled more slowly.
The bike began to drop down.Then with a little bump it landed beside the boy.
He was very surprised and stopped crying.
I'll take you home Emma said to him jump on the back
The boy shook is head.Im too scared he said.
Come on said Emma it's safe
The boy shook his head again.
Emma began to get cross.
Do you want to be here all night she asked?
There's no one around and the park with be closing soon.
Slowly,very slowly,the boy climbed onto the bike.
He holed on to Emma and he closed his eyes very tightly .
He was terrified.
You'll be OK,said Emma ,just hold on tight.
Emma began to pedal.She pedalled faster and faster,and the bike took off.
Soon it was flying back over the park.Then it landed on the road.
The boy opened his eyes and got off.
That was a bit scary,he said but it was fun too.
It's a great bike were did you get it?
From Aunt Irene ,said Emma , she gives great presents.
Then he jumped up on the bike and pedalled off.
