Destiny paced around the hospital in worry. She knew that physically Shanna would be OK, but mentally, she wasn't so sure. Yea they had just broken up, but Destiny knew Shanna never stopped caring. Now he was dead along with her best friend.
"Ms. Darrel?" The nurses voice stopped Destiny cold in her track. She rushed over the countertop and gazed urgently at the nurse.
"She will ,of course, be fine. She is being discharge right now as we speak. I've already printed out her prescription, you just have to go get them from your local pharmacy. Take care." the nurse shook her hand and she went to support Shanna who was just getting out of the door.
Instantly Destiny started fussing over her sister. When she was content with what she saw, they exited the hospital and got in the car.

*Destiny had just finished braiding Cassie's hair and her fingers ached. She massaged them slowly while she thought about bringing her moving subject to her sister.
She wanted Shanna to move too with her but she wasn't really expecting her to say yes. She had a life after all, one that she shouldn't have to pack up and move just because of her.
The funeral was only a week ago, she expected Shanna to want to hold on to what they had a little longer.
She had to move though. The biggest business had called HER, and asked HER, for an interview. Her spot was practically guaranteed there and she was not going to let that opportunity slide.
She was only getting older, at 26, only four more years to 30. She could not bypass opportunities like that anymore.
She peeked her head in the kitchen and cleared her throats.
Shanna whipped around , her hair slapping her face.
Honestly to speak, she was coping well with their deaths. She occasionally cried at night when she thought no one would hear her but that was predictable.
The same thing could not be said for Cassie. She was absolutely devastated. She cried every night and ate little to nothing. Destiny was worried about her and so was Shanna.
The more Destiny thought about these things, the more she wanted to stay. Her sister lost her 'husband' , her bestfriend and now she was to lose her too? Albeit she wasn't really gonna lose her but everyone knows long distance relationships never actually works. Its just never the same.
Her tongue stumbled uncertainly when she opened it to speak. Doubt clouded her mind.
"I, Shan, can we talk?" She turned and walked away embarrassment seeping through her body. There was no reason to feel embarrass really, but embarrassment took over her body nonetheless.
She was a grown woman for God's sake. She could do whatever she wants.
Embarrassment for what she was about to ask.
Shanna followed dutifully behind her sister. She sensed her discomfort and curiosity edged her on. She was tired and needed a good night sleep. A good night sleep that she wasn't going to have in some time.
It was her fault. She wasn't hung over DaeShawn because she loves him or nothing, that ship had sailed longed ago, it was the guilt.
It was eating her up inside, devouring her sheer will to live. For how could she? How could she, knowing she had inadvertently took two lives. If she hadn't caught them and shooed them out, they would have still be alive.
Destiny sat down and Shanna followed.
Destiny gulped loudly and took a few deep breath. Her eyelashes fluttered nervously and she tilted her head sideways timidly.
"Shan, you know I love you right? " Shanna tensed up, bracing herself for whatever that was to come her way. Starting a conversation with that always ended up badly. She nodded quietly.
"OK. Alright. Listen. You listening? Shanna, you have to focus. So. Yea. What I was tryna say it. What I'm saying is. " Destiny rambles on, her hands failing everywhere.
"Des, spit it out"
"Ok ok. Immovingtonewyorkonsaturday"
Shanna skipped a breath. Moving? New York? On Saturday? She forced a smile.
"Oh, Des, that's wonderful." Shanna pulled Des into a hug. While they were hugging she reached behind her and wiped her tears.
They parted and Destiny avoided Shan eyes and tapped her feet nervously.
"Shan, that's not what I really wanted to talk to you about though." Her eyes wondered some more.
Shann raised one of her left eyebrow.
"I want you and Cassie to come with, and yea I know. You have a life here and blah blah blah. But I really want you with me. You're all that I've got and..oomph" Destiny face collided with her sister's bonying chest and the smell of cheap perfume clouded her mind.
Shanna grinned broadly as they embraced. Thank God Des had invited her. She needed a change of scenery, away from all this. A fresh start.
She was ready.
