Hello again, FireRyzers! It's time to find out if KenLeigh is finally going to leave Adamu's crazy ass! Oh yeah, the picture above his Dakarai. I have no idea who he is, but he's a cutie. Anyway, on to the story!

Chapter 4

***

A week after her attack, KenLeigh was released from the hospital. She and Adamu had been questioned several times by Miami police and what came from those interrogations threw the N'Diaye household into a web of lies, deceit, and infidelity. KenLeigh was able to identify her assailant from a photo lineup. When she asked about the connection between her and the stranger, Detective Levesque left the question for her husband to answer.

"KenLeigh, we need to talk," Adamu said, once the couple was alone.

"I'm really tired, Damu. Can it wait?" she said, wincing in pain as she shifted her weight.

"I know the person who did this."

"What? What are you talking about?"

"Her name is Alicia, and I've been ... having an affair with her."

KenLeigh sat speechless as the revelation from her husband sank in. She had dedicated her life to him for eighteen years, even enduring his abuse to keep their family together. She had been faithful to him and nothing short of the perfect wife. It all made sense to her now. His insecurity, jealousy towards other men, and distrust was a direct result of his own deceit and infidelity. KenLeigh was crushed and heartbroken.

"Why?!" she asked through tears.

"I don't know. I'm sorry, KenLeigh."

"No," she replied, shaking her head, "no more apologies, Damu. I could've died! I lost my baby, because of you and your lies! You've caused me nothing but pain."

"KenLeigh, I'm sorry. I love you."

"I want you to go, Damu. I need some time alone."

"KenLeigh, I-"

"Damu, please, just go."

Adamu relented to his wife's wishes and packed an overnight bag. Although their relationship had been on the rocks lately, the fact remained that he did still love KenLeigh-in a twisted way, and he didn't want to be without her. However, after all of the physical abuse and the drama he had stirred up with his affair, he had to accept that his marriage was over.

As Adamu was leaving the residence, Dakarai was arriving from school and met him in the driveway.

"Where ya going, Dad?"

Unable to set his pride aside and admit to his son his wrongdoings, Adamu gave Dakarai a forced smile, and then walked to his vehicle.

"Dad?"

"I love you, son," Adamu said, getting into his SUV and driving off.

Dakarai was taken aback by his father's strange behavior, sending him darting into the house to check on his mother. He found her in tears and immediately rushed to her side, fearing that his father had once again physically harmed her.

Dakarai allowed his mother to cry on his shoulder for nearly ten minutes, before asking her what had happened while he was away. As she told him about Alicia and his father's infidelity, he had made it up in his mind that it was time for them both to leave.

"Mom, please tell me that you're not staying with him," Dakarai said, feeling nothing but anger and disappointment towards his father.

"No, baby, I'm leaving. Call your uncle."
