in his wallet
there's a picture of me
7th grade
school picture
still had my braces on
i was so happy
"mouth full of metal
eyes full of life"
he says it will fade one day, but will be with him forever
shows it to his friends, co-workers
his mouth full of smiles
eyes full of love
he touches the place on his chest
where his heart is
"pride" he says
on his phone
is another picture of me
8th grade
a picture for a boy
in the bathroom mirror nothing on
i was so lost
"where'd my baby go?
where's my little love?"
he says he wants it to go away, but it's out there forever
oh god! have his friends all seen?
his lip quivers, head held low
eyes full of tears
he touches the place on his chest
where his heart is
"pain..."
