Catherine's POV

I was staring out the window of the train watching the blur of greens and blues go by. The train had left the station only hours ago. We still had a way to go before we arrived. I wasn't supposed to be there till tomorrow anyway. Still I was nervous to go there and be so far from home. Going from living in the U.S to collage in London only to move again.
As I watched the window in the dinning cart, a waitress stopped to get my order. "Just tea and scone is fine." I replied with a smile. Few minutes pass and she returns with my tea and scone. Leaving behind a tray with cream, sugar, and butter and jam. I prepared everything and returned to my thoughts.
I was going to this small town in England under the cover of studying. I had another reason to go as well to help track down a killer. True I was going to study hands-on, but medicine isn't my real major. Criminal science was the real one. The study of reading criminals, stopping them and yes there is medicine involved. I do autopsies on the people that were murdered, and of the criminal. If they're ever caught that is.
The train finally stops and I get off looking for the person to pick me up. There stood a man and woman by the left puller. Just like the note said they would be. I look down at the note one more time before I walk over. "Hello are you Mr and Mrs McCail? I'm Catherine Bloodgood." I introduced myself sticking out my hand for a handshake. Mr. McCail shook my hand and Mrs. McCail pulled me in for a long hug. They both stared at my odd appearance.
Well it's not like I didn't expect it. For a woman to dress in pants and to be a doctor in this age...well. 1889 woman weren't really at the "top" of society. Well that doesn't really matter people just don't really care that much. We got in a carriage and rode to their house. It was a nice house. With dark wood doors intricately carved with high frames. Bronze handles accompanied the dark wood. Almost making it seem like a lantern glowing on a new moon.
Shudders laid open on the windows except for on the very last window on the top floor. I wonder why? It I had to guess they're probably the Lord's of the land. They closed the carriage door and joined me on the walkway. The door opened and a man and woman came out with smiles on their faces.
The woman gave me a hug stepping aside so the man could greet me as well. Handshake and a pat on the shoulder was all the man man gave me. We started the short walk and asend of the steps. I wasn't quite sure how this experience would go, but I was excited all the same. Oh little did I know that I had no idea.
