The school bell rang loud 4 times, and just as Adam was packing his stuff up and going to ask Maybelle about the school, some guy who sat near him called out,

"Hey! It's Adam, right?" He walked towards Adam as Maybelle ducked silently out of the classroom.

"Uh, yeah. Why?"

"Oh, y'know. I just wanted to show you around the school, find out who you are, the works."

The boy had a warm smile, but Adam thought he saw a flicker of mischievous behind the kid's eyes.

"I think I'll pass. Thank you for the offer though."

"Aw c'mon man, don't you want any friends? I'm trying to help you, you don't understand how mean people can be to newcomers here."

He does have a good point, Adam thought for a moment. "Okay, but we'll have to talk at lunch. I gotta go to my English class."

"Just skip it. It's your first day, no one's even gonna notice you're gone."

"I can't, sorry."

"Pleeeaaase? I'll get my friends to come with."

"Fine. But I need to be back in time for history, okay?"

"Yeah, sure. Whatever floats your boat dude." The boy smiled even bigger and started to walk out of the classroom without looking back to see if Adam was following. Once Adam had caught up to him, he asked what the boy's name was. "James." Was all he said as he walked intentionally faster than Adam.

"Heeey, how you doin' Kaleb?" James did a complicated handshake with his bulky friend Kaleb and kept walking, ignoring Adam the whole time.

On the 4 minute adventure through half the school, James did 2 other different, odd, and confusing handshakes with his other tough, douche-looking friends, Mac and JD. Throughout those 4 minutes James and his buddies never once looked back at Adam, and he was starting to think this wasn't such a good idea after all. He was wondering if he could slip away and go to English without them noticing and was about to test his theory when James turned around abruptly.

"So. How do you like our school?" Adam could've sworn he heard a bit of a harsh undertone in "our" but he wasn't ready to just give up on his so-called 'friend' yet.

"I-it's nice. Big, but nice."

"Good." James turned to his friends on either side of him, "Let's show him the back of the school." All three guys nodded and he stepped forward.

"You want to see something cool? Something that'll blow your socks off? Follow us."

Adam hesitated, but thought, I have strong legs, I could always run if I needed to. And maybe they're just different from the kids back in L.A.

He let out an "okay" and they set off through the school doors, headed to the back of the campus.

"Well, here we are." James said as if they were in a sacred temple.

"But, it's just a small field. What did you bring me to see?"

"We didn't bring you to see anything." Kaleb chimed in.

"We brought you so we could set a few things straight." JD added cynically.

Mac had moved around so they had formed a semicircle against the building and around Adam.

"Hey, I don't want to get in a fight. I'm not trying to intrude on anyone's business, I just want to finish school and be done with all this shit."

"Oh, don't worry. We know you won't intrude." James now smiled a sinister smile that sent shivers down Adam's spine as all 4 boys moved in closer on him.

Alright, second chapter done! I'm sorry it might be hard to understand but I have so many ideas in my head, I just can't figure out how to put them down on here, goddamnit. Anywho, if you like it, could you vote/comment please? I don't want to be that person but I like having feedback so I can know if I need to change anything. Well, I have to go to class now, so bye!
