That was when she noticed that her surroundings had changed. She was no longer in the tranquil Norwegian spa. The room she was in shined with a slimy glaze over flowing deep pink walls with light green veins running through. The organically shaped room seemed to pulse slightly giving the impression that they were inside the guts of a giant creature.
Then she noticed a vaguely human-shaped scaly reptile creature, but with jagged teeth and claws, lying at the feet of the nerdy intruder. James used one had to prop open a tall vertical slit that appeared to be the door and the other hand reached desperately toward Becky.
Her attempt to gather something to say eventually erupted with a scream and she dropped down to take refuge behind the bulbous, tongue shaped bench that she had been laying on.
"Where am I?" She yelled, "What is this?"
"Okay I take that back, apparently this IS what it looks like. What you were seeing before wasn't what it looked like." The human said as he dragged the reptilian body into the vertical doorway to prop it open. "Where ever you thought you were was actually an illusion."
Becky looked back at the alien creature lying on the floor. Was that Sven?
"Here, I brought you something to wear." James tossed a package to her and turned his back to give her a chance to put it on. Stepping over the reptilian masseuse, he poked his head out the door. "I'm sorry about what I got, but I knew they were planning on grabbing you, so I had to find something before I left the convention."
Becky ripped open the package and pulled out an adult sized recreation of her Zara costume. She snorted at the ridiculousness of the situation. This couldn't possibly be happening. But since there was no obvious reason to face her hallucination naked, she slipped quickly into the novelty coveralls. They weren't as form fitting as her tailored costume, but they provided modest covering.
"Where are we? Why are we here?" She said as she finally stood up and faced the quirky little man.
"These are Pleidians, they're aliens who have been abducting and experimenting on humans for a long time. I do my best to break it up whenever I can and I heard you were on their list. So I came to the convention to keep an eye on you. Sorry I took so long to catch up; I was forced to go out the front door and you obviously went out the back."
"So you're here to rescue me?"
"Yeah," James shrugged, "you can tell me that I'm a little short for a storm trooper later. Right now we have to hurry."
"Do you know how to get out of here?"
"Oh sure, I do this kind of thing all the time," James looked out the door slit before turning back to Becky, "Well, actually this is a little different. This is a Pleidian bio ship. Everything here runs off of bio-energy, so if I use any synthetic energy weapons or devices it will set off their alarms. Unfortunately there are going to be a bunch of those lizard guys between us and the exit that are going to have to be taken out with a little old fashioned elbow grease. Now normally when I pull humans out of a situation like this I leave them unconscious, but this time around I may need a little help kicking some alien butt. Didn't I read that you've kept up on your martial arts training?"
"Yes."
"So are you up for helping me fight our way out of here?"
"You've got to be kidding me."
"Come on, you're Zara, Agent of Stellar Command aren't you?"
"No! Not anymore!" Becky retreated away from the door. "And to be honest, I never really was Zara. That was just a show! It was scripted, those fights were choreographed."
