"You know who I am?"
"Oh yes we do," Katish grinned evilly.
"Who is he?" Max asked.
"He's a rogue alien who's been working to disrupt the human breeding plan we've been developing for years." She sneered, not taking her eyes off Jarred.
"A breeding plan to destroy the human race," Jarred explained to Max.
"Still..." Max shrugged apologetically, "Grace Slick."
"Oh don't worry, he'll forget this and we'll still get to intertwine his DNA with the girl's," Katish smiled, "But the important thing now is to make sure you scurry on back to the conclave for discipline so I can get back to work."
"Why would I want to do that?" Jarred said.
"What else are you going to do?" She asked, "we know your cover identity now, I made sure to upload that data into our systems as soon as I saw you here. There's nowhere else for you to go."
"I'm sorry, Max," Jarred sighed and turned away from her to look at the human, "...but you need to run."
Max just stared at him with a bewildered expression as Jarred slammed back his elbow into Katish's bare midriff, then when she doubled over, he followed it up with a knee to her jaw. Taking only a moment to make sure that Max had gotten away, Jarred pushed past her and raced into the crowd.
Once he thought he broke her line of sight he jumped into a crowd and joined their swaying dance, glancing back toward Katish. He smiled as he saw her scanning the crowd; he had lost her and would be able to slip out through the crowded event.
"Dude, relax," said a nearby hippie, "Have some Quaaludes." He dropped a handful of pills into Jarred's palm.
"Thanks," Jarred said as he popped them in his mouth. They wouldn't have any effect on his alien physiology, but they did have a nice tart flavor that he enjoyed.
"Far out," the hippie exclaimed in amazement as he watched the overdose.
But Jarred was again staring past a naked couple, watching Katish raise her hand over the crowd and activate a tiny device with her thumb. Jarred turned to follow the direction she was pointing the signal and saw the back doors of a multicolored Volkswagon van open up.
Out of the van lept a Drawl, a Reticulian hunting beast; the best description would be a centaur-like creature that was half lion, half gorilla, with large ears and an extended snout full of teeth. The whole thing was covered with pale blue fur.
Jarred was momentarily stunned to think that she was releasing this, obviously alien, animal in the middle of a massive crowd of humans. The core foundation of the Reticulian operation on Earth was that it remains secret. On the other hand, Jarred looked around, there wasn't a person in this crowd who wasn't stoned enough to forget, or disbelieve, what they were seeing. And the drawl would be the perfect tool for picking him out of the mob.
As soon as the monster picked up his scent and starting charging at him, Jarred turned and ran. He knew there was no way he was going to be able to evade this thing. With nowhere else to go, he turned and charged at Katish and pounced on her.
However, with the obvious disturbance (for anyone who wasn't stoned), there was no opportunity for surprise. She saw him coming and was able to brace herself for his attack. With one leg back for support, she stretched out her arms and caught him as he flew toward her.
"Stupid move, Traitor," she sneered, "Does this mean that you're giving up?"
"That depends," Jarred said as he squirmed in her embrace.
