"What? Who are you?" He replied
"You bare the outsiders mark"
"I don't know what you are on about..." He lied
"Don't pretend you don't know...Mr.Eddershaw"
He hadn't heard that name for years. The last time he had been called that he was working in Dunwall tower as the Empresses' personal advisor.
"You must have me confused with someone else" Said Eddershaw
"We can help you Mr.Eddershaw, but only if you cooperate"
"Why would you want to help someone like me?"
"Daud's orders" Replied the assassin
"Fine, where do we go?" Asked Eddershaw
"The Flooded District"
"How am I supposed to get there?"
"I'm sure you'll find a way" Said the assassin and disappeared
Eddershaw just stood there. Speechless. He decided to take up the offer of the assassin but wanted to wait until morning.
He woke up, he knew he had leave promptly, He set off. It was a long way to the Flooded District, but he knew he had to make it. After 3 hours of travelling he finally made it. The assassin he met on the rooftop the night before greeted him.
"Mr.Eddershaw" He said
"Ah hello" Said Eddershaw
"Daud is waiting for you, follow me" Said the assassin
Eddershaw followed the assassin through the wrecked buildings of the Flooded District. It was a cold and murky looking place, anything nice there was destroyed years ago when the water barriers broke and the water came gushing in. Eddershaw remembered getting the news from the messenger, he was sitting next to the empress helping her with the plans for the annual Dunwall whale festival.
They entered a slightly nicer building.
"Daud is just upstairs" Said the assassin with a hand gesture towards the stairs.
"Right" Said Eddershaw
He reached the top of the stairs and looked at the gold plated door with two whalers guarding it.
"I'm here to see Daud" Said Eddershaw
One of the guards gave him the nod as to say 'go on in'. The other one opened the door.
The room was huge, it was also heavily guarded after the overseer attack 2 months ago. Most of the room was taken up with bookshelves with various books on anything. From how to cook whale to how to kill a man. In the corner there was a small office area with a desk and board with the faces of various people. Some Eddershaw knew others he didn't, which was strange because working at Dunwall tower he had met almost everyone. Above the office area there was a small balcony area with chests probably filled with the rewards for all his assassinations.
"Ah Mr Eddershaw! I have been waiting for this moment a long time" Said a man on the platform.
"You don't recognize me do you?"
"Well I can't see you" Said Eddershaw
"I'll be down in a minute then" Said the man
The man walked down the stairs, as the light shone on him more it revealed his face. He knew this was the man he was supposed to meet. This man was Daud. He recognized him from the wanted posters, scar across one eye, pale skin, red uniform. It was definitely him.
"Daud" Said Eddershaw
"Mr Eddershaw" Said Daud
"It's been a long time since I saw someone like you, well three months but" Said Duad
"I don't even know how I can look at you..." Said Eddershaw
"You have no choice" Said Duad
"No...I don't" Said Eddershaw quietly
"Daud, Billy Creel is here to see you"Interrupted the assassin standing guard at the door upstairs
"Send her down" Replied Daud
A woman slowly walked down the curved staircase. It seemed pretty well kept, well polished. It still looked fairly new, under the conditions of the Flooded District it could be new. The woman was dressed like the other Whalers but her uniform was red like Duad's.
She walked over and stood by them, She took off her mask.
She glanced at Eddershaw then turned to Duad and started staring at him as if to say 'What the hell is he doing here?'
"Billy this is-" Said Duad his sentence being cut short by Billy.
"Alfred Eddershaw"
"Billy Creel I believe" Replied Eddershaw
"I see you know each other" Said Duad
"We're both all over the papers" Said Creel with a smile forming in the corner of her mouth.
"Yes...putting that aside" Said Eddershaw
"Right down to business" Said Creel
"Mr Eddershaw if you want to get somewhere in life you have to work for it" Said Duad
"What?" Said Eddershaw
"I didn't agree to anything"
"We want you to kill someone"Said Creel
"Kill someone!" Exclaimed Eddershaw
"I can't kill someone!"
"You have to if you want to live" Said Creel
"Eddershaw, if you pull this off we will let you live here. With us. No more living on the street. No more being hungry for weeks on end" Said Daud
Eddershaw thought about this offer. He had never killed someone before. He rarely got into fights.
"Fine" Said Eddershaw
