Donald put down the letter after reading it to me. He registered my facial expression and he handed it to me to scan.

Now, I'm dyslexic. Those birthday cards were written in great font by my friends so I could read them and even then I struggle sometimes. But this letter was the first thing I read with clarity in my life. And I still couldn't believe a word of it.

"Half-Bloods?" I finally said after minutes of stunned silence. "What's a half-blood?"

"No clue," admitted Donald. "I don't... I don't think that that's real, Perissa. It can't be."

I agreed but the truth was the letters had appeared from absolute everywhere, as if someone knew they hadn't been read and didn't stop until one had been. If that wasn't supernatural my life was completely normal.

But what did it all mean

Ω                         Ω                        Ω

Fortunately, we didn't find out for about two months. Donald and I went back to our school, Yancey Academy, and nothing strange happened. No more letters from the so-called department of Olympus, no more strange occurrences of unexplained events, except for my friend Jove Proudfoot and I being water bombed by Jake Trench and me staying completely dry, and no more mental breakdowns from Aunt Prudence.
