Chapter 9

CORA POV

That night while I was sleeping I heard some sort of noise that woke me up. Turning over to Erza I tapped her on the shoulder.

"Erza!" I whispered.
She didn't even stir. I smacked her this time.
"What? Oh.. What's going on Cora?" She said sleepily.
"There's something out there, I can hear it in the bushes!"
"Cora it's probably jus-"
This time the rustle was louder. Erza looked at me, her eyes filling with fear. We peeked out of the tent and saw nothing.

"Come on. Stay close to me" she said drawing a sword and slowly creeping out of the tent. I followed getting ready to use any magic necessary. As we creeped towards the bush the rustling became louder and louder until something jumped out at us. We screamed and I jumped into Erza's arms.
"What the hell was that?!" Grey yelled walking toward us. Everyone was awake now, and confused on what was happening. I looked down at what had jumped out. It was a little bunny. I blushed nervously.

"False alarm... It's just a bunny.." I said sweating nervously. Everyone sighed in relief and annoyance. Everyone made their way I back to their tents and fell asleep. Taking one last look around the campsite, I crawled back into my tent and fell asleep once again.

The next morning I woke up to Erza yelling at everyone. I groaned and sat up, stretching my arms into the air. I poked my head out of tent to see what was going on.

"COME ON PEOPLE! GET! UP!" Erza shouted. She was standing on a rock in the middle of the campsite, holding a pan and hitting it with a spoon. I pulled my head back in and quickly changed. I pulled my hair into a ponytail and crawled out of the tent. By then everyone was outside and taking down their tents. I quickly disassembled mine and put it away. In a few more minutes everyone was ready to go and we continued on for the day. Soon, we came upon two paths that led in totally different directions.

"Great. Now what?" Asked Lucy, her voice filled with concern and annoyance.
Wendy and I exchanged glances and grinned.
"We got this" I said as I closed my eyes. I took a deep breath and concentrated on the scent of the forest. The deep smell of the woods hit me and I smiled. It smelled really good. Under all of that scent I smelled recent scent of people, taking the path to the right. Before I could say anything, Wendy beat me to it.

"The right path seems to be taken more often. I think that's the best bet."
Erza nodded in approval. "Did you smell the same, Cora?"
I nodded.
"Alright let's go then."
We continued to the right down the path and soon heard a noise from up ahead that seemed to be arguing. Erza stopped dead in her tracks and put a finger to her lips to signal us to be quiet. I looked over at Hoshi and his facial expression was unreadable. Erza motioned for Lucy to come closer to her. She slowly tiptoed toward Erza and then continued forward toward the noise that seemed
to get louder and louder. A blast of light erupted from the bushes and hit Lucy in the chest. She gasped and she covered her chest where she has been hit with her hands.

"LUCY!" Natsu yelled as he ran toward her. She swayed for a couple seconds, then fainted. Luckily, Natsu had caught her as she fell. His worried look quickly changed into a face of anger. He carried her over to Wendy and placed her gently on the ground. Who was that? What's happening.....

"CORA!"
I snapped out of my thoughts to be welcomed back to reality by Ezra. She motioned for me to follow her and Grey as they went to investigate. We reached the area where the light had come from and looked around. The two obvious wizards who seemed to have been arguing were nowhere to be found. We jogged back to the group.

"We found nothing" stated grey, an annoyed look in his eyes.

I looked around the group, trying to read everyone. Everyone put down their guard and sat on the ground while we waited for Wendy to heal Lucy. I walked over and sat down to Wendy and Natsu, who were seated by Lucy.

"Will she be okay?" I asked Wendy.  She gave me a reassuring smile and nodded. I smiled back and turned my attention to Natsu, who was intently watching Lucy. I patted him on the back and stood up and went to sit with Erza. She threw me an apple as I approached and I nodded a thank you. The camp was pretty much silent as I sat in the sunny spot next to Erza. I took a bite out of the apple and smiled as the sun rays absorbed through my skin.

After about an hour Lucy awoke, and was perfectly fine. Relieved and well rested, the group continued into the woods.
