ZARAH'S POV:

I slowly began to open my eyes, my head was killing me and everything was a bit blurry. My mouth was horribly dry and my throat was parched.

"What?" I whispered to myself as my vision became clear. I was laying some couch in a room that I couldn't recognize. Where was I?

Why am I here? And more importantly what happened? I heard a snore come from the corner of the room and looked towards the sound and there he was. He looked so innocent and vulnerable; it actually surprised me to find him this way. His hair was a mess and he was slouched over on a chair with his forehead resting in his hands. I smiled at the sight before me, but stopped when I felt my lips crack from the dryness. Looking to the coffee table ahead of me, I saw that there was a glass of water probably for when I woke up. I tried to reach for it, but my arms were still very weak so when I tried to pick up the glass, I lost my grip and it crashed to the floor, shattering everywhere.

Zayn's head shot up and he smiled when he saw that I was awake. "Glad to see that you're alive." His voice sounded groggy.

"Where am I?" I asked a bit shakily.

He ruffled his hair to get it back into place, " Well you are in my house, but if you want a more exact answer, my T.V. room."

I looked at him expecting more information, when I didn't get any, I rolled my eyes and asked, "And....how did I get here?"

He was about to answer, but faltered when he realized what I had asked, " You really don't remember, do you?" I shook my head which caused another wave of pain in my head.

" Well...." He began to fiddle with his finger and tried to avoid my gaze.

"Zayn", I said sternly and when he finally looked at my eyes I asked, " Tell me what happened."

He walked over to my side of the room and took my hands. "Zarah" He said softly, " I don't know how to tell you this but your uh- well you see... when I was walking home I heard a scream... and I ran towards it only to see you......well you were in shock and you face was as pale as a ghost and you were shaking a lot...and uh...." He looked down not sure how to continue. " Your parents are dead.." he finished softly. He looked back up at me no doubt to see my reaction.

"I know," I smiled sadly and Zayn's eyes went wide with shock. "They died ten years ago." I looked down, unsure of what to do and began to fiddle with the blanket lain on top of me.

Zayn squeezed my hands shocked, "then who was.... I mean there was a man and a woman in your house... and they were dead....."

A man and a woman in my house? The world seemed to have stopped spinning and my hand dropped from Zayn's hand as the realization hit me; I began to remember what happened.

There was blood running down the driveway and the door was torn out of its hinges. Two bodies were hanging halfway out the doorway as if they attempted to crawl out of danger. I looked into the lifeless faces of the two people who raised me as if I were their daughter not niece. They helped me grow, helped my parents memory stay strong. A phone was in my aunts outstretched hand and it had 911 dialed into it. The killer must have killed her before she could press call and get help. I tried to move towards them, but was frozen in place. My legs became weak and I fell to my knees sobbing as their blood soaked my jeans.

"NO!' I screamed, " THEY WERE ALL I HAD LEFT." Blinded with grief and fury, I picked up one of the sharded pieces of glass and held it above myself.

"Zahra stop! You don't know what you're doing!"

"I don't care!" I screamed. Squeezing my eyes shut, I began to remember all the memories I had as a little girl.

" Why did mommy and daddy leave me?" I looked at my aunt and uncle and they exchanged sad looks. My uncle put me in his lap and kissed my head gently and my aunt took my hands into hers.

"Now listen hear," she lifted my chin slightly so I could look at her. She was smiling sadly and tears were softly falling down her face. "Your parents loved you more than they've loved anyone. And they haven't left you."

My eyes widened, " Then where are they? Are we playing hide and seek again?" I had giggled remembering how daddy used hide behind the same curtains every time we played .

I heard my uncle chuckle sadly from behind, "I'm afraid not sweety."

"Then where are they?"

My aunt pointed at my heart, "In there. They will always be with us, looking after us. As long as we keep their memory alive. But don't you ever say that your alone. You have me and your uncle, and we will never leave."

"Promise?" I held my piinky up to my aunt and uncle and smiled when they each shook it with their own.

" THEY PROMISED!" I yelled with a heart wrenching sob before bring down the glass forcefully.
