Chapter 3: Kate

"I'm sorry, who?" I questioned Marcus. He told me there was a "hot" new girl and I wanted to know exactly who she was.

"Her name's Willa. She's got all the guy's attention including Jacob." I guess you could say Marcus was my spy. I send him out on missions to gather valuable information and then when he gets it, I pay him. Simple as that. But this info pissed me off. You see, I'm in love with Jacob and this Willa chick is gonna come up in here and steal my man? Aw hell no!

"Where is she now?"

"I don't know exactly where but I heard her discussing lunch with Princeton."

"Oh my god! She is not taking my man away from me!"

"Then you should go get her!"

"Yeah! You're right! Here Marcus!" I handed him a stack of 20 dollar bills. "That should suffice."

I ran to my locker to get my stuff and then I saw her: Willa. She was gorgeous! Not more than me of course but pretty close! I was about to go off on her when I realized that I should not make her an enemy, but an asset! If I were friends with the pretty new girl everyone was swooning over, I would get noticed too. Maybe even by Jacob. So I walked up to her and said in a fake but convincingly nice tone, "hi, Willa! Welcome to Haverdale!"

"Oh, thank you! You must be Kate. Everyone talks about you. You must be pretty popular. Oh man this is so weird! First Prince now you! Back at my old school, cool people just ignored me and bullied me. But you guys are really nice." She beamed at me like I was the greatest thing since sliced bread. Ugh, she was pathetic. But her faith in us gave me an idea.

"Well that's The thing, dearest Willa. We aren't nice. We're mean and nasty and will ruin your sorry little life whenever we have the chance. It isn't like like me to help little nobodies like you. But you gave Jacob the chance to ruin your reputation by saying yes to your little lunch date. He made you think he liked you so you'd get lured in. Then he'll throw the prank on you. So I suggest-"

"Prince wouldn't do that. And besides hearing that your the most popular girl here, I also heard that you're crazy in love with Princeton and would do anything to get him. Am I right or wrong with that statement?" Willa said with her hands on her hips. Then Jacob walked up.

"Hey, Willa!" He said to her. She smiled at him and his cheeks warmed to a deep pink colour. My smile should be doing that to him! Not hers! I frowned and whimpered to get his attention. "Oh! Hey, Kate! Didn't see you there. What's up?"

"It's just that I don't have anyone to go to lunch with! All my friends left me!" I put on my best please-feel-bad-for-me face. Jacob was about to say something when Willa cut him off.

"Aw, bad luck Kate! But I'm sure you'll catch up to them." And then she walked away with Jacob by her side. When she looked back, she gave me a devilish glare. Bitch, two can play at this game.
