October 2015, The Party

"Come on Simone, throw the party." Brit urges me.

I roll my eyes and step out of my car to head into school.

"Your brothers have thrown them before! You can too!" She continues catching up to me.

"Yeah and I'm fucked if I get caught by my mom I tell her.

"But she won't be there, and we can sleep over!"

"You can't though.." I trail off.

My mom works night shifts on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Which gives me the perfect position to throw a party. Yet, she gets home at 5 in the morning which basically means party and clean up all in one night.

"Everyone will help out I promise!"

And that's how we ended up here... 4 days later at my house.

Everyone is standing around my island table in my kitchen taking shots of confidence before the party began. Henry brought his speakers, Chanel brought chasers, and everyone else just brought themselves and a good attitude.

"We will help you clean up I promise!" Chanel tells me.

"Oh my gosh really? I appreciate it!" I let her know.

I am feeling pretty confident about this party. I think I will be able to pull it off. We tested the sound system and you can't hear it from outside, and I made sure to let people know where to park their cars.

"I am going to get as wasted as possible because I have to leave in 90 minutes" Mimi says before downing a shot. I look at this girl and think nothing of it as I fill up a mini water bottle full of alcohol.

Yet, I didn't realize that that was my first mistake. Never let tiny girls drink a surplus of alcohol.

The party is now in full swing as people from all grades and schools flooded my basement. I was running around my house making sandwiches and greeting people, and finally I made it outside to get some fresh air.

I look off into the distant night sky and look at these men walking down my driveway asking people to leave.

Casually, I take out my phone and call Henry.

"Cops are here" I say into the phone. Henry instantly stops the party and I see people leaving my house. I quickly make my way inside after I see them walking towards my front door.

They ask me all the questions that I answer coolly and calmly I believe and am left with a warning.  I get out a broom and mop and start cleaning my basement by myself. Since everyone dipped or had to leave. All who is left is me and Rachel.

Rachel and I have always been friends. During, 10th grade we stopped talking for whatever reason, but now we are as close as we were before that.

Sadly, after all of this I don't remember half of what happened tonight.

"Simone the seniors are calling you a legend!" Henry tells me at school on Monday.

"Really?" I reply. I don't understand why I am a legend or anything, but as long as it is nothing negative I don't mind.

"Also, the reason it got busted was because Mimi was suupperr drunk when her parents came to get her."

What... The... Fuck....

"Yeah, I was talking to her parents" Camille chimes in. "Mimi lost her phone and they threatened to call the cops because of it, I guess they actually did."

I think everything through and am annoyed. I was worried about her and her well-being after she left the party, but she was the reason why the party ended only an hour in.

"I think she's moving back to Cali." Jada tells me. Jada and Mimi are really close, but they have been drifting apart for the past couple months.

Good. I think to myself. She did this to herself and whatever consequences she gets is her fault.
