Chapter One - Eyes in the Water

Armin was always a curious merman, but never got in too much of an odd situation. Well, that was until he met one certain human one one certain day. When the weather had a certain serenity and the ocean had a certain tranquility that enticed Eren Jaeger to come to the beach.

Even though he rarely comes to the ocean, the way it looked was too beautiful to miss. The brunette threw on a plain white T-shirt and some swim trunks before heading out towards the sand that the slight breeze would repeatedly blow against his legs.

Meanwhile, Armin was playing with the small starfish and sea slugs in a few of the wading pools of fresh water.

He was almost completely hidden, except for his eyes that stood out against anything else, so intricate and deep crystal blue- that made the deep sea seem like an amateur children's painting.

he watched Eren from a distance and made sure to hide his Coral orange tail from the surface. The brunette immediately caught his eye and he peeked at him, mostly looking at his legs- and then back at his face and body. 'He' so handsome.. Much nicer than we have underwater.. ' he thought to himself, smiling at Eren.

After a few moments, Armin was noticed and Eren approached with a confident smile. "Hey, I'm Eren.. what's your name? " he held out his hand and the blonde hesitantly slipped his smaller hand into his open palm, smiling a little.

"My name's Armin.. Sorry for staring, you're just really handsome.. " he said, Eren blushing lightly at his outspokenness. "Hah, problem, Armin.. You have beautiful eyes.." the brunette spoke back, winking with a grin.

The two spoke for a long time, laughing and subtly flirting with each other. "Hey, Armin.. Would you want to maybe go out to get some lunch and hang out for a bit?" he asked, smiling and moving a little closer.

Armin only backed up and looked away, his eyes losing their excited gleam. "I can't leave the water.. " he said sadly, gaining a sympathetic gaze from Eren. "Why not..?" he reached down to touch Armin's thigh, but his fingers only brushed against slick scales that sent a jolt up his spine. He had a feeling now that he knew exactly why he couldn't leave the water.

"A-ah.. Armin.. I.. " Eren's eyes widened and Armin let out a frightened yelp, pulling away and hiding behind the rock. "I'm so s-sorry.. " he stuttered out, only met with a touch on his shoulder. "Why haven't you run away already?" the blonde asked, looking up at him with teary eyes. "Because I still think you're beautiful, silly.." Eren smiled charmingly and kissed his cheek. "No.. you must be messing with me or something.. " Armin said with a flinch at the kiss.

Eren only shook his head and put an arm underneath the smaller male's body, lifting him close. "You're one of the most fascinating things I have ever seen."
