When I wake up the clock reads 1:34. "God damn," I exhale, I turn around in the bed and am looking straight at him." Fuck, Thomas wake up bruh." He doesn't move, I lean over and put a hand on his shoulder, feeling his soft skin, and shake him. After several seconds of being unsuccessful I result to slapping him lightly on the face.
"Come on dude get up." He finally moves a little. "Hey, wake up." He mumbles something that I don't understand."Thomas!"
"Hmm, oh... Hey, what.. T-time is it." He barley gets his sentence out.
"It's about one thirty."
"Really wow." He's starting to wake up now.
"Come on get up we have to pick up all these can-" I'm interrupted by the door creaking, and I hope it's Avery, but Mrs.Tina walks in the room, a disappointed look on her face.
"Agh. Really Thomas, beer? Really? Where'd you get this?"
"Someone at school got it for me," he says fully awake now.
She walks over to his window and raises the blinds, letting in a barrage of light. We both turn away, letting out moans and gasps. "I don't want to hear it, I mean I know y'all are upset and mad right now, but this isn't the answer. Come on downstairs guys, I"ll make you two some breakfast."
I throw my legs over the side of the bed and run my forehead." We'll that went better than expected."
He gets up and sits beside me," Yeah, I just hope Avery took care of the rest."
"Yeah, really." We get up, pull our shirts back on, and make our way downstairs one step at a time. We walk into the kitchen and the smell of bacon fills my nose. I look over and see Mrs.Tina cooking pancakes. We sit down by Avery who is drinking a cup of coffee,"Morning boys," she says taking another sip of coffee.
"Morning," I mumble.
"Yeah, that." Thomas says still fighting off sleep.
Avery gets up from the table and comes back seconds later with two cups of coffee then sets them down by us. "Drink up."
I look into my cup and frown. "Black, really, come on you know I'm a white girl."
"Yeah well that's gonna make you feel a lot better so drink it."
We oblige her and I try and drink it all in one gulp but can't and set it back down on the table. Thomas puts his finished glass down and says," That's disgusting."
"And beer isn't?" Avery says in a motherly tone. Mrs.Tina looks back at her funnily. I think she knows that Avery knew they had been drinking, but not how much they had."come on guys, getting wasted is no way to deal with your problems."
I finish my coffe and lean back in the chair.
My head hurts.
My ears hurt.
My chest, my stomach, my whole body hurts.
Thomas's phone rings, sending shearing waves of sound into my ears. "Agh, shut it off!"
Thomas silences his phone and checks his missed messages. "It was TJ, let me text him real quick." He types what I can only imagine is, "too drunk, hungover, talk later, food now, bye." But several seconds later he says,"TJ and some of the guys want to know if we want to meet up and play some basket ball later."
