[ Gene is pronounced like 'jean' ]
I woke up with a start. I heared a beastly howl from the distance followed by percussive sounds of huge flapping wings. As if in trouble. Trouble.
Ugh. I always have that involuntary urge to help those in need or in trouble. And where does this lead me? Well, hearing no end of Inang's continuous lecture about how I could get myself hurt, or tearing off my wings, or wasting my powers for a 'weakling'. But of course, she forgives me immediately when I say,
"Yes Inang. I won't do it again. Promise." I would say hoping she would stop talking.
So now, I'm up on my feet, dressing up with a simple floor length gown with intricate metallic blue designs on its collar and cuffs that stop to my wrists. I looked at the body-length mirror at the corner of my room to check how I look like.
I have silver-white wavy hair, dark skin, sapphire-blue eyes, high yet soft cheekbones, and plump dark lips. I look pretty today, I thought before laughing mentally.
I was about to wear some jewelries when I heared the howl of pain again. Okay. Forget the jewelries and just grab your daggers. I opened my wooden trunk and strapped on my two silver daggers on each side of my belt.
Then I quickly jumped from my open window to spread my gray wings and fly towards the sound of trouble.
I sense that this would be something other than helping a friend in need. I swooped down by tucking in my wings slightly and opened it at the last second before I get myself soaked. The feeling of freedom made me flap my wings faster. And also because of the howling.
Finally, I found the source of the sound to see a giant metallic-blue dragon with a bulky figure, stucked in a fallen boulder, the twice its size. When the creature found me hovering above him, his red eyes narrowed into slits and puffed smoke from his snout.
"I don't need pity, little fairy," he growled. He hissed for me to leave but I ignored him and flew down. He starts to thrash around when I started to near him, causing the boulder to roll more on his tail. "If you're going to help me, you should've brought your friends. Because your size won't be able to push away this boulder. But I won't stop myself from laughing if you attemt to even move this thing off me," he smirked cockily.
"Don't think too low of me, oh helpless reptile. I am nothing like you imagine. And don't even start from underestimating me. Because I would be the one smirking by the end when I get to rid of that thing off you," I said, crossing my arms. I closed and tucked in my wings before opening my palm.
I closed my eyes to concentrate on finding my magic. I felt the vibration from the ground, the rustling of the trees, and the slight change of air. Then I found my magic. I opened my eyes to see a storm forming. I raised my arm and opened it. A thunder boomed, startling the dragon.
"What is your magic, little fairy?" He said curiously and with a little bit of fear. I chuckled to myself. He's afraid.
I closed my palm and pulled it down, sending a streak of blue lightning plummeting into the boulder wherein it smashed it into pieces. The dragon flinched and jumped away hurriedly when he got free.
I waved my hand and the storm dissapeared gradually before the sky turned blue again. I smiled. I like blue. But I love gray.
I diverted my gaze from the sky to the dragon who was walking to where I was. Then I smirked.
"So what were you saying about me earlier?" I said smugly with one eyebrow raised. He puffed but said nothing before his vicious face softens. Wow! He has a quick change of heart, I must say.
"Yeah, yeah. But anyways, thank you for freeing me and I hope we can be friends. And sorry for underestimating you. It's just that... most fairies have healing that offensive powers." He said sheepishly while scratching the back of his ear with his hind leg. Aww! He looks so cute!
"Okay. I forgive you," I smiled. "I'm Gene by the way. Short for Genesis."
He gave me a smile before nuzzling his snout to my neck, saying, "Reve. Short for Revelation." He breathe in my scent which was kind of weird yet comforting. So I decided to engulf him in a bear hug.
"You are such a hugger, Reve," I giggled.
"Am not," he grumbled, pulling away to tower over me. That's when I noticed something around his neck. A brass medallion with a big ruby on it.
Noticing where I was looking, Reve looked down, or tried to, as to where I was staring.
He looked down to me and nervously asked, "What's wrong? Was it my medallion?" I nodded. He smiled nervously. Which I don't know why. "Uhm, I uh--I gotta go! Mom is probably waiting for me," I stammered, clearly nervous. But I pretended that I didn't notice and backed away to give him space to lift off.
"Can we meet here again?" I asked.
His face brightened, which made made my concern for him go away, before nodding his big head. I waved him goodbye and watched as he flew away faster than I've ever flew. Oh well.
It was the middle of the day and remembered that Inang has some guests coming over. Ugh.
I picked up my dress before flying towards my cozy tree house. Oh yeah. I forgot to mention that I live in a tree house!
And as I thought, mother lectured me about getting myself hurt, or tearing my wings off, or wasting my magic to a weakling. And the whole time, I was busy thinking of Reve.
